AX Emulator Set-up Procedure

There are two software installations required to set-up the emulator on a Windows10/ 7 PC 64 bit.
This software does not function on Windows XP.

Emulator Set-up
Please note, the version of Emulator software must match up to the same version of the installed on
the Printer. If the software on the printer does not match up with the emulation software then you
will not be able to connect to the printer.
If you have previous versions on the Ax Emulation software on your PC then it will need to be
uninstalled first using the Windows Uninstall feature. Do Not use third party Uninstall software.
Once the software has been un-installed, you will need to manually delete two folders in Program
Files as below.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Domino Printing Sciences\PrinterApplication
C:\Program Files (x86)\Domino Printing Sciences\QuickStep3
Once the software has uninstalled and the above files removed the files Reboot the Computer.
Next step will to show any hidden folders. Use the ‘Find’ or search function. The widow should pop
up as below, tick the box ‘Show Hidden Folders’. And select the ‘Apply’ then OK. Then close
window.
If the Hard Drive is not named, you may have an issue of ‘No Raster’s Found’ then you must
rename the ‘C’ drive by adding a extra character or new name. Once complete, Reboot the
Computer.

The next stage will be to install the software on the computer. Download both the PrinterApp and
QuickStep3.msi software to the Computer.
1. Install the Ax PrinterApp.msi first to the default position. Once install has completed Reboot the
computer.

2. Now install the QuickStep3.msi software again to the default position. Once install has
completed Reboot the computer.

3. Once the programs are installed. Delete any .XML files that exist in the roaming folder. To find
this folder you will need to navigate from the ‘C’ Drive as the example below.

C:\Users\JA_Name\AppData\Roaming\Domino Printing Sciences PLC\QuickStep3

Domino Printing this should only contain only one file qs config… delete this and any others
folders then close.

4. The next step is to set both software programs to run as ‘Administrator’.

5. Navigate to the ‘PrinterApp.exe as the example below shows. Then right click onto the
PrinterApp.exe. When the window pops up (PrinterApp.exe Properties) select the
‘Compatibility’ tab. And tick the box ‘Run the program as Administrator’. Select ‘Apply’ then
‘OK’ then close.

6. Navigate to the QuickStep3.exe as the example below shows and repeat the above by setting the
‘Program to Run as Administrator’ once completed ‘Apply’ then ‘OK’ then close.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Domino Printing Sciences\Ax\QuickStep3\app\QuickStep.exe

7. The next step is to Run the PrinterApp.exe application first. The software will run, please note
that it will take a few seconds to run. Once the software is running,
Start-Up (Completed) should be displayed at the bottom of the window, as below.

Let the software to run, (As shown) Once completed the ‘Start-Up’ files will be seen. DO
NOT CLOSE THIS WINDOW. You can minimise this.

8. Now run the QuickStep 3 software, once the screen below appears press the ‘Connect Button’.
If the printer is not showing the screen below or has a different IP address in the field, then you
will need to the Networking of Printers, further instructions, in this module.

9. The Emulator will now run and you will be on the ‘Home Page’. Please note that you will have
a red alert as the picture shows below.

It is possible to add multiple printer connections from the Quickstep UI.

a. First is to disconnect from the Emulator, internal app on 127.0.0.1. by selecting lock key

b. Select from the pop up window ‘Disconnect from printer’.

c. Select UI settings at bottom of the screen.

10. Now we need to set-up the favourites and first step is to unlock settings by selecting the lock
key again & when the pop up window will appears, select Unlock UI settings. The password is
QS. If this does not work, then you have not deleted the Roaming files previously described and
the password will be Domino1.

unlocked and will revert back to the main
previous screen with add favourite. now not
greyed out.

11. At the top of the screen ‘Connection Method’ select the drop-down arrow and select Favourites.

12. Click on ‘Add Favourite’, where you can first name and set the IP address of the Computer for
the Emulator to work.

13. Click on add favourite again, where you can first name and set the IP address of the First Printer
on the network for the Emulator to work.

14. Click on the green Tick. Then you can then repeat previous steps for extra printers on the
network.

15. When completed, click on the network icon bottom left, to return back to the home page,
to then select printer to make connection with.

Select Connect for the desired printer
which will then take you to the Home UI

16. To quit on the printer connection, click on lock key and select disconnect from printer.

17. To close down the printer app Emulator Correctly, First connect to the Emulator, then Go to:-

 Production Line Setup


 Power Options
 Press Shutdown, Select Shutdown on the Pop-up Screen.

Then you can proceed to close the Quickstep UI.
