The prefabricated duct pieces and GI duct sheets for suite to site fabrication works will be
received at Site Yard/Storage facility. These prefabricated duct pieces and GI duct sheets
will be checked for manufacture details, as per duct tag list, delivery note and approved
material submittal to ensure delivery is correct.
Verification of quantity as per the delivery notes / identification labels and test certificates
of the sheets shall be done by the fabrication supervisor.
Inspect the material upon delivery.
Details of the material receipt, test certificate will be conveyed to CtrlS MEP Project
Engineer and Quality Engineer.
Duct fabrication Yard/Storage Yard in charge will be responsible for arrangement of
unloading L shape prefabricated duct pieces and GI duct sheets at fabrication yard.
Unload duct material manually and store the material at designated place.
For movement of the material and delivery vehicles, CtrlS safety guidelines shall be
followed.
Do not drop or drag the material.
Always be careful to avoid damage when handling.
Material Storage (Material Storage and Management Method)
Fabrication supervisor should maintain the proper storage as per the site requirement.
Cover the duct material with the tarpaulin/polyethylene sheets to protect from the ingress
foreign objects and rain.
Damaged materials should be kept in designated area & tagged and shall be taken out of the
site from time to time with information to the fabrication yard.
Check the duct sealant for self-life and dispose the damaged or expired material as
recommended by the manufacturer
Check the size, class and quantity of the ducts, fittings & accessories are as per the MAS
and Approved GFC drawing.
Check material test report or certification in compliance with approved material specification.
Check the dimensions of materials to ensure that they are in compliance with requirement.
Also check the thickness of ducts, fittings and accessories are in line with the requirement.
Check whether the area is clear / civil & HSE clearance available for installation.
Check for any physical damage to the ducts, fittings & accessories.
Ensure the certified scaffolding/ mobile elevated working platform (optional) is available at
site for working at height.
Mark the location of the duct supports (e.g., trapeze, wall bracket, Riser supports) as per the
approved shop drawing in coordination with the other services.
Ensure easy access and sufficient clearances are provided for future maintenance of fire
dampers, fire / smoke dampers, VCD’s / actuators, VAV’s / actuators. Check for location
and provision of sleeves for fire dampers.
Install anchor fasteners, full threaded rod hangers and MS angle supports in location as per
approved GFC drawing and in coordination with other services.
Install the transition pieces for the wall / slab opening as per the duct size and approved
construction drawing.
Install ducting as per approved GFC drawings upon completion of joinery of sections of
ductwork. Ducts shall be cleaned inside and outside to avoid any dirt.
Raise and install the next duct section, align it with the previous section and provide the
transverse joints and put the sealant as per approved sample approval.
All joint (both longitudinal and sectional) shall be sealed with approved duct sealant.
All duct supports shall be checked for their straightness and level after installation. Lock
nuts to be tightened after final leveling. All edges of threaded rod and MS angle shall be
touched up with paint.
The VCD’s, fire dampers, Motorized volume damper, access doors, test holes and fresh
air intakes shall be installed only after the inspection of material as per Client requirement.
Install volume control dampers, fire dampers, motorized volume dampers, access door, fresh
air intake and sound attenuator is as applicable and as per approved GFC/Shop drawings.
Additional support shall be provided adjacent to dampers, grilles, diffusers, or other similar
equipment so as to prevent duct distortion.
Ensure that the fire dampers shall be installed in duct works at all the fire rated
walls/slabs penetrations as per the specification.
Install access doors / access panels in supply, return and exhaust air ducts, as required and as
per approved GFC/shop drawings to facilitate the routine inspection, maintenance, cleaning
of filters, dampers, fire / smoke dampers and the other air conditioning and ventilation
equipment.
Flame retardant, waterproof flexible duct connectors shall be fitted to the suction and
discharge of all fans and air handling equipment’s, ceiling suspended air handling
equipment’s, treated fresh air units and proper hanging support shall be provided.
Install collars and flexible duct for grilles and diffusers in coordination with false ceiling
/ reflected false ceiling.
Installed fresh air louvers in fresh air duct systems and external louvers in exhaust
ventilation duct systems as per the approved GFC/Shop drawings.
The droppers for Supply Air/Return Air/Exhaust Air grilles, diffusers and registers shall be
installed as per approved ceiling coordinated drawings.
The Supply Air/Return Air/Exhaust Air grilles, diffusers and register shall be installed after
the readiness of suspended as per approved ceiling coordinated drawings.
Red line mark-ups and as built drawing to be prepared incorporating the modifications if any
for the installed ducting layout.
GI Ducting Installation in the Shafts
Maintain the span of each support as mentioned in the Approved GFC drawing
Weld the duct supports to the insert plates provided in the ATC tower building.
Ensure that duct locations are coordinated with the other services in the shaft.
Raise and install the next duct section, align it with the previous section and provide the
transverse joints and put the sealant as per approved sample approval.
Bolts nuts shall be provided on both the ends to hold the vertical duct in the shaft
All joint (both longitudinal and sectional) shall be sealed with approved duct sealant.
Ensure that the duct supports shall be installed properly on the floor.
Check the intermediate distance from one support and the other as per shop drawings.
Ensure that duct locations are coordinated with the other services.
Now install the duct sections, align it with the previous section and provide the transverse
joints and put the sealant as per approved sample approval.
Bolts nuts shall be provided on both the ends to hold the vertical duct in the shaft.
All joint (both longitudinal and sectional) shall be sealed with approved duct sealant.
Install the dampers in the duct works at the desired locations and as per flow directions as
shown in the GFC/Shop drawings and site conditions.
Ensure the connection shall be made air-tight with suitable gaskets and duct sealant to be duly
applied at the joints. All excess sealant must be removed.
Ensure that the blades are set and locked to the required position for the system air
balancing.
METHOD STATEMENT FOR ITC
