Bulletin #D19E

This document provides countermeasures for abnormal noise coming from flexible couplings caused by wear between isolation rubber and inertia plates. It recommends modifying the isolation rubber and using a special spacer if the inertia plate hole has no wear. For inertia plates with excessive wear, it recommends re-boring the hole and using a modified isolation rubber and special spacer. Diagrams of the proposed modifications are included.

Countermeasures against noise from flexible coupling

DSE9101

The following modification should be effective in solving

abnormal noise coming from the flexible coupling,
caused by wear on the fitting surface between isolation
rubber and inertia plate.

1. If the fitting hole of the inertia plate has no

wear:

a. Machine isolation rubber according to figure 1.

b. Fit the special spacer (figure 2) together with the

modified rubber (figure 1) onto the inertia plate.

c. The special spacer is available from Daihatsu.

2. If the fitting holes of the inertia plate require

rectification due to excessive wear:

a. Re-bore fitting hole of the inertia plate to

155 0 ~ +0.1mm (this is 5 mm oversize from original
diameter).

b. Machine isolation rubber according to figure 3.

c. Fit the special spacer (figure 4) together with the

modified rubber (figure 3) onto the inertia plate.

d. The special spacer is available from Daihatsu.
