Since the day I began making sense of forces regulating everyday events around me,
acquiring knowledge has been my cynosure. From a young age, engineering was my
first choice for under graduation. As a child, I always accompanied my father to his
construction sites has influenced me to take Civil engineering. After working for almost
two years as a Jr. Site Engineer and Asst. Site engineer, I want to take one big leap for
a better career. Management skills are defined as certain attributes or abilities that an
executive should possess to fulfill specific tasks in an organization.
I have, therefore, decided to opt for the Graduate Certificate program in Project
management and I truly believe that this course will help me gain the skill and expertise
required to step up in this highly growing industry.
Background
Education
Being born into an affluent family, I had all the good opportunities to study in elite
institutions. I graduated in Civil Engineering in 2016.
Seeing me worried, the Chief Architect of the construction site where I worked asked
me the reason. When I revealed the questions, he just pointed me to a document in his
file. It was a complex chart of 3x3 boxes. It was the ‘Activity-on-the-Node’ diagram with
Critical Path. Now, I had the answer. I also understand that my father was making me
ready before entering the business field—my admiration for him increased.
Accordingly, I also decided to acquire advanced skills and knowledge to make the best
use of my civil engineering background. Initially, I thought of doing an MBA. However,
being born to an acute businessman, my father, I had sufficient skills and knowledge to
run a business. What I required was technical skills and knowledge for executing
construction and infrastructure projects. Hence, I choose project management.
Qualifications
Coming to my English language skills, it is worth noting that I had attended English
medium schools throughout my childhood and also communicated extensively in
English at my workplace. I appeared for IELTS and scored an overall 6 out of 9 with 6 in
Listening, 6 in Reading, 6.5 in Writing, and 6 in Speaking. My scores also follow the
requirements for the SDS application mode, which I am using to submit this
submission.
Why Canada
The education system in Canada is considered the most advanced and fast-growing
with modernized technologies globally. Other institutions in India provide quality fitness
and health education in India, but they would not offer as much exposure as a course in
Canada would. The USP of work-as-you study culture in Canada helps me to look at a
brighter side of my educational career. The multi-disciplinary and programs that provide
a real-time experience helps me to improve my career. I have chosen a foreign country
because no University/Institution in India offers a specialized one-year program in
project management. My choice was a western developed nation. My specific choice of
Canada is for three reasons. Firstly, the program itself fulfills my career objective of
building competencies. Second, the quality of education and its regulatory methods and
socio-cultural environments found in Canada are better than in the USA, UK, or any
other European country.
Conestoga College is ranked among Ontario’s best graduate study venues. This one-
year graduate certificate program will prepare me to manage simple to complex projects
from start to finish. Learn organizational agility with practices like Scrum, scheduling,
and planning a budget for the project. The Managing Director of the Swan Infra Pvt.,
Ltd., where I am still working, recommended me to the College. He is a graduate of
Architecture - Construction Engineering Technology. Second, the academic credential
of the Ontario Degree Certificate, which has a highly regulated system to assess and
evaluate the programs that reflect Ontario’s changing job market and are, designed to
help its students to attain skills and knowledge that employers seeking. Finally, the
curriculum offered rightly fits the skills and knowledge that I intend to acquire.
Financial
I hail from an affluent family having two established businesses. My father, who
currently runs these businesses, is sponsoring my education. I have already paid CAD
17,500 as my 1st-year fees to Conestoga College. I have also transferred CAD
10,051.00 to my ICICI Bank GIC account for first-year living expenses. My parents are
willing to bear my expenses during my study period and cumulatively together with me
and my parent’s annual incomes are INR 4,27,080 which are coming to approximately
CAD 7,1033. Also, the CA report confirmed that my father has immovable property
worth INR 1,05,82,000 that can be equivalent to CAD 1,75,985. Hence I will not face
any financial challenges during my study days.
Given the comprehensive statements, I would like to conclude that skills and knowledge
requirements have driven me to study project management. The primary purpose of my
decision to pursue my academics in Canada is to enhance my skill-set and gain
invaluable industry knowledge and training from an educational institution that is one of
the best for my chosen field. My father's business in real estate and construction
supplies is waiting for me to take over. Upon completing the one-year Certification
Program in project management, I must return to India. As a law-abiding citizen, I shall
not disobey any of the policies of the Canadian government in my stay there as a
student. I look forward to studying in one of the most reputed institutions among
respected faculty members with eagerness, enthusiasm, and undying spirit.
Finally, I make a humble request to the immigration officials at the Canadian Embassy
to positively consider my candidature and grant me Study Permit.
Yours faithfully,
