The water and pebbles from the intake will be discharged through a flushing channel to the river. An energy dissipation arrangement will be provided at the outfall to smoothly guide the water into the river. Upstream and downstream cut-offs for the channel are designed based on scour depth calculated using Lacey's formula.

The water with shingles and pebbles will be discharged back to Quazi Nag Nallah through a

shingle flushing channel under free flow condition. The discharge in the shingle flushing
channel will be regulated by a vertical lift gate. The outfall of the channel is proposed about
127.52m from intake with an invert elevation of El. 1514.08 masl.
The water from the SFC outfall will be guided smoothly towards the river. Suitable flaring
along with energy dissipation arrangement shall be provided at the outfall to dissipate the
extra energy in the flowing water and for its smooth joining with the river. The riverbed level
at the outfall location is about 1514.00 masl.

The upstream and downstream cut-offs are generally provided as per IS 6966 (Part - I) to
cater for scours up to 1R and 1.25 R respectively, where R is depth of scour as defined
below.
The depth of scour below the highest flood level ‘R’ is calculated using Lacey’s formula, as
given below.
When looseness factor is more than 1, i.e., Available waterway > Lacey’s waterway
𝑅 = 0.473 (

When looseness factor is less than 1, i.e., Available waterway < Lacey’s waterway
𝑅 = 1.35 (

Where,
Q = flood Discharge (m3/s)
q = Discharge Intensity (m3/s/m)
