 Every time there is a serve – there is a point score..
 The side winning a rally adds a point to its score.
 At 20 all, the side which gains a 2 point lead first, wins that game.
 At 29 all, the side scoring the 30th point , wins that game.
 The side winning a game serves first in the next game.

Interval and Changes of Ends

Singles
 At the beginning of the game ( 0-0) and when the server’s score is even for example 0,2, 4, the
server serves from the right service court. When the server’s score is odd for example 1,3,5 the
server serve’s from the left service court.
 If the server wins a rally, the server scores a points and then serves again from the alternate service
court.
 If the receiver wins a rally , the receiver scores a point and becomes the new server. They serve
from the appropriate service court – left if their score is odd, and right if it is even.

“Literature is one way for us to hear the voices of the past and work with the present. It is a way for the
present to connect to the possible future.”
Echoing the idea from the quoted passage, it is noteworthy that we realize that literary works allow us to
time travel and have a glimpse of the distant yet significant past. In addition, it allows us to anticipate the
future brimming with hope based on the great stories we can all read.
In the mythological account of The Jar of Pandora we can easily sense how creatively the story was
crafted to highlight the importance of being very cautious in decision making however the vivid and
picturesque narration made it very appealing to the readers. Literature entertains us while it teaches us
timeless moral.
LITERARY STANDARDS
There are distinct qualities that separate literature from other forms of writing. Literature should be
universal, artistic, intellectually enriching, suggestive, inspirational, permanent, and peculiar.

Literary works should be relatable and appealing to all readers around the globe regardless of one’s
culture, gender and race. Also, it should have a sense of beauty especially on the literary text structure
where linguistic structural form complements the totality of the meaning of the text (e.g. use of figurative
language, narrative styles, characterization, etc.). Moreover, it should invoke intellectual stimulation that
would lead to realize the fundamental truths about life and its nature. Literary works suggest a lot of
meaning embedded in symbolisms and sublimity of ideas—literary works should not be taken literally.
Also the works we read should inspire us and move us to become better individuals because of the
masterpieces that we read we are never the same again. Unlike any other forms of writing, the value of
literature is transcending and its influence takes hundreds of centuries and millennia (Who would have
thought the works of Homer would still be appreciated until today? And the immensity of Shakespearean
romances would still echo in Netflix series?).

These are the distinctive literary standards that make Literature superior above all other forms of writing
for it does not provide entertain but it elevates the way we think, the way we treat the people around us
and the way we look at life.

Excellent job! Read your previous lesson yesterday so you can have a profound knowledge about
Literature. Now let us proceed with our activity to strengthen your learning. Refer to the selection
