Taj Mahal at “Agra” is the most famous historical monument in
India. It is known all over the world as a dream in marble. It is about
171 metres high.
It was built four centuries ago by “Shah Jahan”, the famous
Mughal emperor, in memory of his beloved wife “Mumtaz Mahal”.
More than 1000 elephants and 20000 workers participated in
building it along twenty two years. After the completion of the
monument, as the story goes, the builders’ hands were cut off
because the emperor didn’t want them to build the pair of Taj
Mahal.
