• SAY: express an idea in words: Decir.


• TELL: To give information to someone: Contar
• CHAT: to talk in a friendly and informal way : Charlar
“pay attention and stop chatting to each other during class”
• CHATTER= NATTER : to talk quickly and excitedly about
unimportant things : Parlotear
“My sister always chatters when I’m watching a movie”
• Whisper = Murmur: to say something quietly. You use your
breath instead of your thoat: Susurrar, murmurar.
“ They were whispering because the baby was sleeping”
• UTTER: make sounds: Pronunciar palabra.
“ Ella didn’t utter a word because she was frightened”
• GOSSIP: Talk in an informal way about other people or events :
Cotillear.
“Mum don’t gossip about my new boyfriend , please!”
• STATE, DECLARE, AFFIRM: To say something in a formal
or firm way, you say something is true: Declarar, Afirmar.
• OBSERVE: You comment something you have thought about a
lot : Observar.
• POINT OUT : You emphasize something important: Señalar.
“ use a pen in your test sheets, the teacher pointed out”
• COMMENT, MENTION: You say something briefly about a
topic: Mencionar, comentar.
• Add: You say something more regarding or specific: Añadir.
“ It’s not safe to walk alone in London at night- Susan added.”
• INTERRUPT : You speak while another person is still speaking.
“ Don’t interrupt me when I’m speaking, that is rude.”
• CONVERSE: Formal word for “talk”
• BABBLE: Talking in a confused or excited way= balbucear
“ My sister was so nervous about her last test that she was
babbling all day long”
• MUTTER: Speaking very quietly because you’re complaining :
Protestar
“ Can you be quiet? The man muttered to the group.”
• REMARK: Saying something more about the topic of
conversation: Remarcar, subrayar.
“ You’re not going to Daisy’s, you’re doing your homework, dad
remarked”
• ASSERT: Saying something is true: Afirmó.
“She was really worried about you, my friend asserted”
