QUESTIONS IN ENGLISH

In English there are two types of questions:


1. SHORT ANSWER or YES/NO QUESTIONS

As you can observe in the chart above when you ask yes/no question, you always start the question with a
verb (was, is) or with an auxiliary verb (do, can, have) in the example chart, and in order to answer you must
write YES in case of affirmative answer or NO in case of a negative answer, then you must write the subject
that the question is referring to, and finally the verb or the auxiliary verb which begins the question. If it is a
negative answer it must finish in a NOT.
2. QUESTIONS WITH QUESTION WORDS or WH.

For this type of questions what you have to pay attention is to the correct words order, according to the verb
tense, and of course the answer is a full description or full answer.

I would like to work as receptionist in some hotels and also I would like to
be a marketing person , I mean I think that each sector of travel industry
and also in tourism activity need someone who make publicity, I think that
each company is interested in sold their products or services.
4. What sector of tourism activity most appeals to you?

I think that there are three sectors that appeals to me, airlines, ferry and
cruise companies.

B. READING COMPREHENSION

• What job do you find the most attractive? Or what job do you find the
least attractive? Why?

I think that there are three sectors those appeals to me, airlines,
ferry and cruise companies, I really enjoy working in different
environments, and the best option for me it's working as a
personal in some of these sectors, on the other hand I would like
to work as a receptionist but I think that is not as interesting as the
first two sectors.

Read the four job advertisements, and answer these questions:

I think all four jobs include sales.
2. Which of the jobs requires management skills?
Conference Event co - ordinator.

I think that for the first job, conference event co-ordinator.I mean, I
consider myself as a creative person and I think that I’m able to solve
problems also I’m very responsible.
3. What is a tourist’s guide good at?
A good tourist guide must have a good memory, and good
communication skills, and must also be friendly and always have a good
image.
4. What is a hotel bellboy good at?
The bellboys in respectable hotels are always well dressed and well
groomed. They must be able to provide the information they need and
anticipate what guests may need, but they must be prompt.
5. What is a travel agency manager good at?
A good agency manager must be a good communicator, must make
good decisions, must also know how to work under pressure and always
be kind.

D. GRAMMAR

Prepare an interview asking questions about his or her date of birth, place of
birth, languages, countries visited, professional skills, hobbies, and ambitions.

B: Good morning, Mr. Perez pleased to meet you. Please, take a seat.
A: Pleased to meet you too, and thank you for seeing me.
B: I see... And tell me how old are you?

A: Well I’m 20 years old; my birthday was on May 21st


B. Interesting and where are you from?
A: Well, I’m from Lima but I’ve lived in Puno many years.

B: Ms. Gutierrez, what can you tell me about yourself?


A: Well, first of all, I’m professional in tourism. Also I’m an English teacher I’ve
been teaching English as a foreign language for one year.

B: I see, and what languages can you speak?


A: Well, I can speak English, Portuguese, Spanish and a little French
B: Well and what are your favorite hobbies?

A: I like to take photos, I think that photography is an amazing art; also I love to
speak in different languages with some of my friends.
B: That’s nice, and could you tell me about your professional skills?

A: Of course. I’m a punctual person. I always arrive early and complete my work
on time. I consider myself to be a team-player. I like to work with other
people and I find that it’s much easier to achieve something. When I work, I
always take initiative. If I see something that needs doing, I don’t wait for
instruction. On the other hand one of my greatest qualities is that I can keep
my cool and I don’t allow the pressure to get to me.

B: I see… and what are your short terms aims professionally speaking?
A: I would like to work as a marketing person or in some sector of travel
industry, I think that airlines, ferry or cruise companies. And I’d like to move
away from teaching and work as a full-time translator.
B: Why do you think you would be a good match for this position?
A: I am thorough and meticulous, and I like working on my own.

B: What are your greatest strengths?


A: I am independent and creative, and I work very well under pressure. My
experience has prepared me for many different situations.
