8 TIPS / 5 SHAPES
Most POSCA tips are washable and replaceable (PC-1MC, PC-3M, PC-5m, PC-7M, PC-8K and PC-17K).
Some are also reversible (PC-3M and PC-5M). If a tip ever dries out over time (for example if the cap was not
put back on properly), you can soak it in a glass of water to be able to use it again.

Shake the marker vigorously with the cap securely attached in order to move the ball inside the barrel. On a
test sheet, press the tip down several times to start the paint flow. Replace the cap tightly after use.
POSCA markers contain high quality water-based acrylic paint made in Japan. The paint is highly opaque,
quick drying and blendable when wet.
IS POSCA PAINT PERMANENT:
POSCA is water based pigment marker which can write on any surface. Colour is permanent on porous
surfaces and removable on non-porous surfaces such as glass.
POSCA is permanent on porous surfaces. You can further optimize its adherence by following the next three
steps;
The drying time is extremely quick. Generally, the colour dries quicker on porous surfaces than smooth ones. In
any case, wait a few minutes and the colour will dry.
If you have missed a line or got a wrong colour-overlay with POSCA. You can overlay colour as many times
as you wish. Wait until the first layer has dried before applying another layer.
If you have lost the cap and the tip has become completely dry-thanks to the unique piston and valve
mechanism, you can flow the paint again by priming the POSCA marker. In case the tip is extremely dry, you
can take it out simply by pulling and rinse it with water.
POSCA poster colour markers are water based..These are odourless and totally safe for children.
Yes. POSCA’s paint is water-based, odorless, made without alcohol or solvents and ACMI certified. In fact,
POSCA is so safe that beekeepers use POSCA markers to identify the queen in beehives. A color corresponds
to each year which enables them to determine the insect’s age.
POSCA markers have not been tested or certified for cosmetic use. However the paint can easily be removed
with soap and water if it comes into contact with skin.

Shake the marker energetically up and down with the cap on. You will hear the ball inside clicking announcing
that the paint colour inside the POSCA marker is being mixed.
Press the tip several times on a spare piece of paper until the tip is filled with paint. Test the flow on your spare
paper – if the line is clear, your POSCA is ready. It is useful to keep a cloth at hand to clean the tip easily or
absorb any excess paint.
RE-PRIME
If the paint flows less freely during use, shake the marker again without forgetting to put the cap on first to
avoid paint projections. Re-prime the tip and off you go again!
CLEAN
If necessary, you can clean the tip under the tap as often as you want. If it gets very dry, you can even leave it
to soak in water overnight.
REPLACE
If the tip becomes damaged, it can be turned round or even replaced with a new tip bought separately.
STORAGE CONDITIONS
POSCA markers can be kept in any position as long as the cap is fermly put back on after use. The ball inside
can be used to mix the paint, which is perfectly conserved inside the body of the marker. The brush-tipped
POSCA should be kept horizontal if possible.
