TRAINING DESIGN
II. RATIONALE
In lieu of the division call for school-based In-Service training (INSET), the organizers of
the INSET programs will be the school to minimize high expenditures and are tailored to the
needs of the teachers as well as the school system.
This will 1) help promote the continuous improvement of the total professional staff of
the school system; 2) eliminate deficiencies in the background preparation of teachers and
other professional workers in education; 3) keep professional abreast of the new knowledge;
4) release creative activities; and 5) give much needed support to the teachers who are
entering a wider responsibility or a new field of work especially the new teachers and old
ones whose knowledge are already obsolete.
III. OBJECTIVES
The In-Service Training of Teachers on Asynchronous Virtual Teaching through the Use
of Video Recording will enable the participants to:
1. Familiarize on the different sports lingo and enable to use it in writing different sports
news.
2. Improve their sports writing skills
3. Raise their awareness of the types, styles and conventions of sports writing and apply
this understanding to their learning and use of the language.

the participants to:
1. To know and apply the different symbols in editing and writing headline.
2. Hone the editing skills of the teachers and future journalist
3. Raise their awareness of the types, styles and conventions of Copy Reading and
Headline writing and apply this understanding to their learning and use of the
language.

II. RATIONALE
The Campus Journalism Act of 1991 seeks to “uphold and protect the freedom of the
press even at the campus level,” as stated in the law’s Section 2 (Declaration of Policy). The law
also aims to “promote the development and growth of campus journalism as a means of
strengthening ethical values, encouraging critical and creative thinking, and developing moral
character and personal discipline of the Filipino youth (Sec. 2).”
Santa Rosa District as one of the known districts in Nueva Ecija Division with regards to
winning in different Press Conference competitions is much eager to share the coach’s
knowledge to young and newbies in this field. Cognizant of its importance, there is a need to
equip the not-so-equipped teachers and students with the different theories and concepts,
knowledge and skills and develop among themselves the ethical standards in dealing with
campus journalism.
III. OBJECTIVES
The In-Service Training of Teachers in Campus Journalism will enable the participants
to:
1. Discuss ethical standards in campus journalism.
2. To present theories and techniques of editorial, feature, sports writing and
photo journalism and other important aspects of journalism.
Day 2
Opening Program 7:30 – 8:30 1 hour
Recap 8:30 – 9:15 45 minutes
Editorial, Feature, Science Writing 9:30 – 11:30 2 hours
Copy Reading, Sports Writing 1:30 – 3:00 1 ½ hours
Editorial Cartooning, Photo Journalism 3:15 – 4:30 1 hour and 15 minutes
Day 3

Workshop/Presentation 9:30 – 11:30 2 hours
Selection of Best Outputs 1:30 – 3:00 1 ½ hours
