Laboratory Test Report: Test Name Result Biological Reference Interval Plasma Glucose (Random)

The laboratory test report is for a 10-year-old female patient named Shivika Gupta. It includes results for a random plasma glucose test and a D-dimer quantitative test. The random plasma glucose level was 97 mg/dL, within the normal range. The D-dimer level was 183 ng/mL, also within the normal range. The doctor interpreted both results as normal.

D-DIMER Quantitative
TEST NAME RESULT BIOLOGICAL REFERENCE INTERVAL

D-DIMER Quantitative : 183 < 442.5 ng/mL

Method : Chemiluminescence Immuno Assay (CLIA)

Interpretation :-
-----------------
* D-Dimer is released into the circulation during fibrinolytic process, and therefore the measurement of D-Dimers
and higher molecular weight oligomers containing D-Dimer epitopes is considered to reflect the overall activity
of clot formation and lysis.
* D-Dimer is elevated in a variety of clinical conditions associated with fibrin breakdown including Deep Vein
Thrombosis (DVT), Pulmonary embolism (PE) and Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC).
* D-Dimer is generally used for its negative predictive value.
* Most SARS patients have thrombocytopenia, elevated D-Dimers, and prolonged activated partial thromboplastin
time – suggestive of dysregulation of the coagulation and fibrin polymerization pathways.
