In this day and age, the world’s economy has drastically developed to a
greater-than-ever extent. Nonetheless, in such a context, a majority of
people hold a belief that the environment’s quality cannot be guaranteed due to the emissions from industrialization and modernization. I am of the opinion that economic growth can totally align with environmental conservation.
To commence with, I do believe that if righteously exercised,
technological devices and products from economic development could become the keys to improving the environment. In the twenty-first century, we have witnessed manifold circumstances of environmental crises, including deforestation, marine contamination, fresh air degradation and shortage of natural, exploitable resources. However, many scientific researches have been made, and they suggested that humans can possibly avoid the above-mentioned ramifications with the advent of renewable energy technology. Take, for instance, the solar energy, which is said to not only be plentiful and infinite, but also clean and eco-friendly. In many countries, a lot of people have already had access to this new type of energy by installing a device called solar panel, which helps promote the utmost efficiency of solar energy and change it into electricity. The increase in the consumption of solar energy has mediately reduced human’s reliance on fossil fuels, which were believed to cause detrimental effects on our ecosystem. Evidently, economic advancement has brought forth an unprecedented technology that is far from environmentally pernicious.
Another rationale for my standpoint is that we can link economy with
environmental preservation by practising new methods of development in economic fields that do good to the ecosystem. In the global economy, tourism has always been one of the most noticeable and growing sectors. It plays an important role in boosting a nation’s economy. Therefore, if associated with nature protection, it can bring both positive economic and environmental outcomes. That idea has invented a form of tourism called ‘ecotourism’. Ecotourism enhances conservation, knowledge about natural habitats and sustainability, which are desirable in most countries around the world. Singapore realized its potentials and soon practised ecotourism; nowadays, we can all witness the fact that Singapore is among the most sustainable nations in the world. As can be seen, economic development and environmental protection can be simultaneously promoted. Although the negative impacts of improved economy on the environment are inevitable, they cannot seem to outweigh the advantages if humans wisely connect them, make them support each other and increase sustainable development.
