Course Objectives:
● The aim of the UI/UX course is to provide students with the knowledge of user-
centered design, user -centered methods in design, graphic design on screens,
simulation and prototyping techniques,
● Design of a graphical user interface to organize information about users into
useful summaries with affinity diagrams.
● The students will be given exposure to wireframing and Prototyping software in
the various UI/UX Design tools.
Course Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to understand iterative user-
centered design of graphical user interfaces , Apply the user Interfaces to different
devices and requirements, Create high quality professional documents and artifacts
related to the design process.

Design, Active Elements of Interface Design, Composing the Elements of Interface Design, UI Design

UX Basics- Foundation of UX design, Good and poor design, Understanding Your Users, Designing the
Experience Elements of user Experience, Visual Design Principles, Functional Layout, Interaction design,
Introduction to the Interface, Navigation Design, User Testing, Developing and Releasing Your Design.

UNIT III: UI/ UX DESIGN TOOLS 8hrs


Design Testing Methods and Techniques, Usability Testing, Understanding the Usability Test Findings,

LIST OF EXPERIMENTS

1. Collate any period of human evolution, aggregate content pertaining to the


selected period to Design a timeline that period to be presented it as well designed
“Information Graphic” chart.

2. Identify a design need/gap/problem/issue and apply UCD process with details of


tasks and activities to be performed in each stage.

3. Improve user experience in any existing mobile application by conducting


evaluation using various methods and techniques.

4. Identify areas to improve end user experience. Propose design enhancements for
important tasks/activities as static screen designs.

5. Identify a social need/gap/opportunity for an digital application. Demonstrate


creation of solution by following UCD process.

6. Test the effectiveness of the designed solutions using appropriate tools and
techniques with the target audience.

7. Identify one Indian Government website/portal and check effectiveness by


conducting a Usability Evaluation of Interaction Design Principles (Visibility,
Feedback, Constraint, Mapping Consistency, and Affordance). Propose interaction
design enhancements as interactive screens for tasks/functions.

8. Identify a need/gap for a digital application for a social need and design high
fidelity prototype for most critical task flow incorporating Icon, Navigation and
Interaction Design elements based on user experience guidelines.

9. Select a suitable a product (Tangible /Digital Product) to explain the application of


Principles and Types of Interactions incorporated. Analyse and Present
findings/observations with recommendations to improve end user experience.
