1) The total force (F) on the submerged curved surface AB is calculated as the vector sum of the vertical force (FV) and horizontal force (FH). 2) FV is calculated based on the volume of fluid above the curved surface. FH is calculated based on the area of vertical projection of the curved surface. 3) The magnitude of FH acting 1.067m below point B is 392.4 kN. The magnitude of FV passing through the center of the curved surface is 437.196 kN.
