speech berupa yes-no question dengan time reference “yesterday”. Time
reference perlu diubah menjadi “the day before” atau” the previous day”.

menjadi infinitive pada reporting commands (perintah).
3. b. She wanted to know what my passion was. | Direct speech berupa wh-
question (information request) –> pindahkan verb ke belakang subject (word
order).
4. a. He said that he began to understand the concept of Biodiversity. |
Direct speech berupa statement (pernyataan) dengan verb simple present tense.
Verb diubah menjadi simple past tense (penyampai berita fokus pada fakta bahwa
pembicaraan merupakan past conversation).
5. c. He told me that my friend had just left. | Verb present perfect
tense disesuaikan menjadi past perfect tense.
6. b. She asked me whether she could borrow my pencil for a
moment. | Modal verb “can” (present) disesuakan menjadi “could” (past).
7. c. He asked her why she was staring at his feet. | Verb present continuous
tense pada direct speech menjadi past continuous tense pada reported speech.
8. c. He said that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. | Verb tidak
berubah (menjadi past) karena pernyataan berupa general truth.

day. | Time reference “tomorrow” disesuaikan menjadi “the next day” atau “the
following day”.

diubah menjadi “there”.

Debora said, “I have completed the task”. Debora said that she had completed the task.
She said, “I have met my prince”. She said that she had met her prince.
Present Perfect Continuous to Past Perfect Continuous
They said, “We have been waiting in the line for 3 They said that they had been waiting in the line for 3

Past Simple to Past Perfect

Future Simple Tense (Will) to Would

Future Continuous Tense (Will be) to Would be
Jenny said, “I will be feeding my dog”. Jenny said that she would be feeding her dog.

Future Perfect Tense (Will Have) to Would Have
