Feasibility Study Report

This document provides a feasibility study report for a home automation system project. The project aims to allow users to control home appliances remotely from anywhere with internet access. It analyzes alternatives like Google Home and discusses how the proposed system provides remote access over longer distances more easily and cost effectively than other options. The report recommends the system for anyone wanting remote access to appliances and outlines the project boundaries, benefits, and resource estimates to develop the system using components like Arduino, relays, and NodeMCU.

SE Mini Project Home Automation System

Feasibility Study Report

 Purpose and scope of the study :
 Our project is based on home automation with the purpose to
operate home appliances from any place, where we can access the
internet.

 Description of present situation :

 Current mode of operation does not provide adequate throughput
and response time but our software will provide it.
 It does not provides current mode, end users and managers with
timely, pertinent, accurate and usefully formatted information.

 Problem and requirements :

 Now a days people wants latest technology of smart appliances and
sometimes people forgot to switch off their appliances so our project
will be the solution for that.

 Objectives of the new system :

 Objective of this project is to access home or office electronics
remotely.

 Possible alternatives :
 Alternative for this would to make whole environment that connects
all electronics to google home or amazon echo which would allow
user to control electronics with voice-activation.

 Criteria for comparison :

 Our work will be compared with current google home or other smart
home environments which provides communication between
utilities, appliances and user but unlike these our solution will
provide remote access at longer distances and will be easy to use
and it will be less costly with compare to other alternatives.

 Analysis of alternatives :
 Alternatives will require special set up and can be hard to install and
that will cost more but presented solution will be efficient and can be
installed easily and it also provides customization.

 Recommendations :
 It gives access of utilities and appliances remotely so it can be
recommended to everyone.
 In future we can add AI for customization purpose and can also add
voice-activation and gesture control.

 Appendices :
 We developed our project using Arduino IDE, relay, node MCU 8266,
bread board, LED, Android studio, wire, Powerbank and other A.C
components.

 Who is this project for ?

 Anyone who want to access their appliances from distance.

 What are the boundaries of the project?

 We can control our appliances every place, where we can access of
internet, so boundary is internet access but today we can access
internet everywhere.

 What are the benefits? Can they be quantified? If the software is a

product, what are the forecasts of likely sales ?
 The benefits of home automation typically fall into a few categories,
including savings, safety, convenience, and control. Additionally, some
consumers purchase home automation for comfort and peace of mind.

 What are the estimates of staff, time, equipment, etc.?

 We required 6 to 7 member team, around 1 month time, and also we
required Arduino IDE, relay, node MCU 8266, bread board, LED, Android
studio, Powerbank and other A.C components.
