GSI - Baseline Geoscience Data Generation

The R.V. Samudra Ratnakar conducted several mineral exploration surveys off the coasts of India: 1) It discovered over 478 million tonnes of high quality lime mud off the coast of Gujarat and large quantities of phosphatic minerals off Chennai and Karwar. 2) It found micro-manganese nodules in seabed sediments on the western side of the Lakshadweep ridge and Fe-Mn structures on seamounts in the Andaman Sea. 3) Using high resolution seismic surveys, it identified gas hydrates in the Gulf of Mannar and mapped subsurface structures that could indicate mineralization.

Multi-Channel Seismic Surveys

The multi-channel seismic survey (MCSS) of Samudra Ratnakar is capable of probing up to ~4 km below
seabed and helps in study of deep seated structures and mineralizations. Such studies facilitate identification
of deep seated structural features and favourable sites of mineralization. MCSS in collaboration with National
