Guide Lines for MBA Project Work and Report Writing

Every student of MBA has to do a project work during IV Semester and submit
Project Report/Thesis/Dissertation at the end of IV semester instruction. The Project
Report/Thesis/Dissertation carries 200 Marks. The project report should contain around 60 to
75 pages.

Every student has to approach a company and obtain permission for project work The
Principal/Head of the Department shall assign a faculty member as guide/supervisor to each
student .The student has to interact with his/her guide for necessary guidance. The student
should inform his/her project guide immediately after taking up the project in a company. If
any executive is willing to guide in the company. The student can also take his guidance. The
student has to take certificate from the concerned company’s executive after the completion
of the project. The student has to show the material collected from the company to their
project guide immediately after returning from the company. There shall be an Internal
Departmental Committee (IDC) to monitor and suggest improvements in the project work
done by the student. Every student should prepare a rough project report before finalisation
and present it before IDC through Power Point Presentation for suggestions and
improvements. Once it is finalised by IDC, the student can prepare the thesis for submission.
Every student should submit three (3) copies of thesis to the college certified by supervisor
and PRINCIPAL/HOD at the end of IV semester instruction.

Submission of Thesis/Dissertation

The thesis has to be neatly typed in 12 font Times New Roman and hard bounded (not
spiral binding) in A4 Size. The title page colour of report will be informed to the students by
the principal/hod before the student go for binding of the report. The project report should
contain certificates from the company, faculty supervisor, PRINCIPAL/HOD and a
declaration by the student himself

Project Work Report Lay out

Chapter – 1: Introduction: 8 -10 pages

The student has to write brief introduction on the topic selected for the study. He has
to present the theoretical back ground, concepts and significance of the topic taken for the
study.
Chapter – II: The Study Design: 2 -5 pages

(a) Write the importance and need for the study


(b) Specific objectives / Hypothesis of the study
(c) Methodology of the Study: The student has to specify the primary sources and
secondary and sources of information used for the study.
(d) Sampling: If any student undertakes a project on attitude, perception. Consumer
behaviour, customer satisfaction, etc., he has to specify the Sample size and Sampling
Technique used and justifies the same.
(e) Statistical Techniques: The Student has to specify the Statistical Techniques used for
the study. Every student should us appropriate statistical techniques for the analysis of
the data based on the need.
(f) Limitations of the study: If there are any imitations in collecting necessary data, etc,.
The student has to specify the same in the report.

Chapter –III: Profile of Company: 18-20 pages


The student has to present the details of the company such as history, historical
development, and management, product mix, production details. Organization structure,
employees, promoters’ details, market analysis, market share, financial performance, etc,.

Chapter –IV & Chapter –V: 25 – 30 pages


The student has to divide the analysis of data collected for the study into 2 or 3
chapters and present it by using necessary statistical tools and techniques. While presenting
he has to give inferences and meaningful suggestions wherever necessary.

Chapter –VI: Summary and Suggestion 7- 10 pages


The student has to summarize the whole study and offer his / her suggestions to the
company on the selected topic.
