Don Honorio Ventura State University: Reflection Paper

This document is a reflection paper from a student at Don Honorio Ventura State University. The student discusses their experiences playing chess in their Physical Education class. They found chess challenging as they were not experienced, but watching tutorials helped them learn. Playing chess improved their critical thinking by challenging their brain to strategize better moves. If they were a chess piece, they would choose to be a pawn, as even though it is the weakest piece, a pawn that reaches the other side can be promoted to a more powerful piece.

REFLECTION PAPER
Name Jayvee C. Santiago
Year & Section BSIT-ET-2G
Student Number 2019991692

A. Instruction. Write a reflection paper guided by the questions provided. Limit your reflection paper
in 200-250 words only.
1. Tell me about your experiences in playing chess in your Physical Education 4 (PATHFIT 4).
2. How playing chess can develop your critical thinking abilities?
3. If you are a chess piece, what would you be? Explain

My experiences in playing chess in P.E 4 is chess a little bit hard. Because I’m not
a pro in playing this game. I have to watched video tutorial in youtube so that I will have an
idea of how the chess piece move. Playing this game is a challenging one. Because, you
have to study first so that you will able to win your opponent. Playing chess improved my
critical thinking by keep challenging my brain to think a better move. In thqt way, my brain
is being flexible because it keeps on thinking. This game also measures my intelligence by
able to memorize the chess piece moves. If I will choose one of the chess piece, I will
choose to be a pawn. Evern though it is the lowest value piece in the chessboard. If a pawn
makes it all the way to the opposite side of the board, I may be promoted into any other
piece that I want. In that way I will also able to experience to be other kind of piece. Except
for the king.
