Application Description
The customer, a reputed Meter Manufacturer based in Europe with operations in more
than 110 countries, wanted to interface DLMS meter data from a large number of
compliant meters, and transmit the data to an SAS system on IEC61850. SYNC 2000
protocol gateway was proposed and implemented for the data conversion, with the
installations being at the MV / LV substations.

SYNC Product family has a vast range of hardware products which acts as protocol
converter and concentrator. It can be used to achieve interoperability when controlling
and controlled stations support completely different protocols. The complete
configuration is done through software configuration utility called EasyConnect which
includes defining protocol attributes, mapping data and achieving the functionality
such as firmware updating, IP setting, diagnostics and many more.

For all models, LAN 1 port was RJ45 connector for 10/100 Mbps

Connection to Meters

The meters had one RS485 Port that was used for communication
• NERC/CIP Compliant DCU
with the gateway. For eliminating serial link bus noise the data
concentrator was installed at the nearest location to the meter.

Power Connector
Station auxillary power source of 24V DC Input supply was
provided to the power connectors

Grounding
The ground was provided on the enclosure and got grounded on
connecting the DIN rail clip.
