Position Title : Technical Advisor (Part-time)


Duty Station : Yangon
Duration : July – December 2021
Report to : Executive Director

Organization background
Gender and Development Institute-Myanmar (GDI) is a national NGO established in February
2010. GDI is working for promoting gender equality, peace and reconciliation in Myanmar
through research, training and advocacy initiatives. Founders of GDI sincerely and strongly
believe that affirmative action for practical realization of equality and non-discrimination
principles is essential for achieving sustainable peace, security and development in Myanmar
Project background
GDI is implementing the Community Peace Support (CPS) project in the townships of Banmaw,
Mansi and Moemauk in Kachin; Namtu and Manton in Northern Shan; and in townships of Chin
state covering Tedim, Thantalang, and Paletwa and its neighboring areas. The objective is "the
safety and security of conflict-affected communities are ensured through the implementation of
Community Peace Support program to address conflict-related violence and conflict-related
issues in both non-signatory areas and signatory areas in Chin, Kachin and Northern Shan
States". The implementation of the CPS program will translate to concrete benefits that will
contribute to the furtherance of peace in Myanmar and able to provide these contributions
because CPS is a network of community-based organizations whose aim is to support
communities in conflict areas address and respond to conflict-related issues affecting their
safety and security, facilitate the resolution of such issues through referral with parties and
authorities, maintain engagement and coordination with stakeholders, and increase community
awareness on peace process issues.
Working Nature

 The advisor will be paid based on the working percentage contributed to the project.
 The minimum percentage of working could be 30% per month and the maximum working
percentage should not be more than 40% per month. ( All the work days except from
weekend days and public holidays would be 100% work days of the month)
 The maximum paid will be 800,000 MMK.
Working Percentage/Hour
Working percentage will be calculated for the payroll running and the advisor has to provide
timesheet, which specifically mentioned the working hour (8 working hours per day).The output
report per activity is necessary to attach for result tracking.

Travel for work


Travel out of Yangon will be required on an as needs basis and agreed upon in consultation
between Executive Director.
Remuneration
Remuneration for the service is paid monthly by Admin and Finance Department through the
bank according to the timesheet with output report and approval from Executive Director.
Amendment/Discontinuation of employment
Any revision to this agreement must be made by the organization. Each of the parties has the
right to discontinue this agreement in the event of failure to implement the task as agreed under
this agreement, in the event of failure by either party meet their obligations as stated in this
contract. A one-month notice period is required by either party. The organization has no
obligation to pay remuneration past the one-month notice period.
Specific job information
Position summary
To provide programmatic and peace concept technical input for program reporting/management
and to support organization technical input for GDI’s sustainability
Specific Task

 Technical support for CPS project team to the achievement of expected results.
 The technical advisor must maintain independent and professional relationship with all
GDI’s implementing partners.
 Provide technical advice to project manager for identifying and coordinating with key
actors within government, EAOs, political parties and local partners to approach and
move forward the implementation of CPS issues.
 Provide technical advice for project manager to liaise with other technical working to
ensure coordination and cooperation planned activities.
 Provide technical inputs to the activities that GDI involved in peace architectures.
 Provide technical assistant to GDI’s training curriculum development and facilitate the
process analysis under CPS project.
 Participate on behalf of the GDI, in relevant workshop, forum, and meeting, represent
the GDI assigned by ED, including through engagement with leadership of GDI’s
network, alliance partners and donors.
 Provide technical advice and inputs as required and requested by Project team and
EC/BOD related about the sustainability of the organization.
 Lead the capacity building plan of the organization collaborate with Executive Director.
 The technical advisor will report to Executive Director and Project manager will check
the report.
 The technical advisor will be managed by Executive Director and Senior Management
Team

Education & Experience

 Preferably Master degree in peace or conflict transformation and social development


 Over 5 years in working experience of related field is preferred in a national, international
organization
 High competencies to relate with donor agencies
 Strong background in writing new proposals
 Excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written
 Computer literacy and proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools
