REFLECTION

CHOOSING APPROPRIATE RESEARCH DESIGN

Everything you need from beginning to end before you even start the study. It will
allow you to spot mistakes early on, improve your study, maybe even change it all
together if you find out it doesn’t work. Research design carries an important influence
on the reliability of the results attained.
Once you have successfully formulated a research question and carried out a
literature search, it is important to choose an appropriate study design for study. There
are many types and variations of study designs available, so it is important to choose a
design that works best for you and your research question.
Research Design can be defined as a framework of research methods and
techniques applied by a researcher to incorporate different elements & components of
research in a systematic manner with a view to operate the Research
Problem efficiently. Most significantly, research design provides insights about “How to
Conduct a Research using a particular research methodology. Research Design intends
to find answers to research questions.
In choosing appropriate research design for our study there are things we need
to consider like; what is our research problem or topic? What are the objectives of the
research study? And essentially what is our Research Methodology?
If we already answered this question then we can choose our research design.
Whether it is Exploratory Research Design, Descriptive Research Design or
Explanatory Research Design. We should be careful and knowledgeable in choosing
research design for our study to get the best result we are aiming and avoid misleading
results. The research design is your framework.
