Handling Unit Management

Packaging means the wrapping or bottling of products to make them safe from damages during
transportation and storage. It keeps a product safe and marketable and helps in identifying,
describing, and promoting the product.

“Packing is the preparation of product or commodity for proper storage and/or transportation.

It may entail blocking, bracing, cushioning, marking, sealing, strapping, weather proofing, wrapping,

➢ Define Number Ranges for Packing Instructions (T code: OPIN)
Path -> SPRO->IMG->Logistics -General ->Handling Unit Management ->Automatic Packing-Packing
instruction Master Data -> Define Number Ranges for Packing Instructions

➢ Define Packaging Material Types (T code : VHAR)

➢ Create a Packed Material Master Via MM01 (Material Type: FERT)

Weight must be entered at Basic Data -1 View

Assign Packing material Group at sales: General/Plants

➢ Create a Packing Material Master Via MM01 (Material Type : VERP)

Must be entered the weight and Size/dimensions of Packing materials

Must assign the Packing Material Group, Packing Material Type, and what weight need be allowed.

➢ Create Packing Instruction Via POP1

➢ Packing Instruction Determination Via POF1

Determination Type : RCPT - Inbound Delivery


Determination Type: SHIP - Outbound Delivery

Here I am doing against inbound delivery, so I have chosen RCPT

Here “P” means Packing material


“M” means Packed material

Must be entered the Target Quantity, that means how much quantity need be packed in a
Wooden Pallet.

Click auto-Generate Button, it will automatically be packing the material as per your
requirement

Paying Packing and Forwarding Charges

For example,
Material 1 = 100 Rs
Material 2 = 200 Rs
Material 3 = 300 Rs

Total = 600 Rs
Packing & Forwarding = 2% = (Total * 2%) = 12 Rs
GST (As applicable) = (Total + Packing & Forwarding) = (600 Rs + 12 Rs) = 612 Rs
