EXT switch
General information on the EXT switch
Some critical, remote-activated functions are blocked until the driver has enabled re-
mote activation by pressing the EXT switch. This is a general safety function which
is used in a number of bodywork functions. Remote activation enabled is indicated
by the EXT lamp coming on in the instrument cluster.

If EXT is deactivated, all active EXT-dependent functions will be turned off.

There are two choices of switch that can be used to allow remote activation. An ad-
justable parameter that can be changed with SDP3 (Scania Diagnos & Programmer
3) makes it possible to choose which switch is to be used.
The following options are available: More information on the parameter is found in the following documents:

• Spring-loaded – Spring-loaded switch (standard from factory) • Parameters – Bodywork adaptation (current electrical system, with BCI)
• 2-position – Switch with 2 positions • Adjustable parameters – Other bodywork functions (earlier electrical system,
with BWS)
Function of spring-loaded switch
The spring-loaded switch has the following functions.

• Remote activation is enabled after the switch has been reset once.
• Remote activation is not enabled when the switch is reset once again.
• Remove activation is never enabled immediately after the key in the starter lock
has be turned to drive position without first resetting the switch once.

Function of 2-position switch

In this version remote activation is enabled when the switch is reset from the OFF
position to the ON position. This can only occur when the starter lock is in the drive
position. If the switch is in the ON position when the starter lock is in the drive po-
