INTRODUCTION
ECS Series Salt Spray Chambers are manufactured by Envisys in different versions to meet the variety of testing
applications as per international standards viz., ASTM DIN GM JIS MIL etc…
Salt spray test is an accelerated corrosion test used to measure the comparative corrosion resistance of
materials exposed to a salt spray or salt fog at high temperature. This corrosion test is intended to provide
corrosion resistance information on metals and coated metals.

Note: In order to run the salt spray room temperature to be maintained 6° to 8° C lesser than set temperature.
OPERATING PRICIPLE
The Cyclic corrosion test chamber is configured in four different test mode like Salt fog test, High
Humidity/ Wetting test, drying test and dwell test, Chamber is equipped with different control
system is mainly to control the Individual test modes in the chamber

Salt Spray mode: In this chamber will control mainly two parameters such as Chamber temperature and
Solution collection rate, collection rate is depending the saturated air pressure and salt solution flow
rate both are controllable in the chamber.

High Humidity/wetting mode: In this mode chamber will control the temperature and simulate High
Humidity in the chamber Range of the Humidity will be 95-100%

Drying mode: In this mode chamber will control the temperature up to 70°C and reduce the Humidity
in the chamber Range of the Humidity will be less than ambient

Dwell mode: In this mode chamber will be stand still condition all the parameters will be in off
condition.
CONSTRUCTION FEATURES
INTRODUCTION: Salt Spray Chambers are designed for mono-block construction with
maintenance free sections. Made of highly corrosive resistant non-metallic glass-fibre
reinforced structures

wool ensuring no air pockets and zero conduction and heat

degree angle as per standard

FUNCTIONAL SUB-SYSTEMS
NAME OF THE SUB-SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
Spraying System
▪ Non-metallic acrylic material fine-fog
simulation atomizer will be provided

▪ Atomizer inlets will have salt-solution and


saturated air lines to generate the fine
saturated mist at saturated humidity
conditions

▪ Spraying mechanism will have saturated air-


pressure control and solutions flow-control
system to regulate the flow & pressure to
achieve the required fall-out rate as per the
prescribed standards

Humidity Generation (Saturator) System

▪ Non-metallic transparent acrylic saturated


tower will be used for producing the saturated
air

▪ Saturator will consist of High-density cartridge


immersion heater, water level control float,
over temperature safety sensor, temperature
control sensor, air-dispenser and water-make-
up port.

▪ Saturator will also have over-temperature


safety, low-water-level safety and in-let air-
pressure regulation system.

Salt Spray Heating System

▪ Low-density ceramic layer rope-heaters.

▪ Heaters will be bonded outside the Salt spray


tank with proper insulation.

▪ GRP tank outer surface will be uniformly


rapped with aluminium foil for uniform
temperature distribution

▪ Tape heaters are protected with over-skin


temperature protection.
Hot Air Blower

▪ Hot air blower will be used to simulate the


high temperature in the chamber.

▪ Blower will be mounted in the utility console


for easy maintenance accessibility.

▪ Blower will consist of Air heater with


thermostatic control for safety.

▪ Blower will intake fresh air and send hot air to


the chamber to maintain the set temperature.

▪ This blower will work in Dry cycle mode.

Remote Refrigeration unit RRU/A1,RRU/A2

▪ Independent Standalone refrigeration unit will


be provided back side of the salt spray
chamber.

▪ Which will be consisting of Refrigeration


system, cooling system, air circulation &
independent control panel.

▪ Remote unit will have conditioning air outlet


& inlet connected to the salt spray work space
through flexible insulated hose.

▪ Remote unit & salt spray inlet outlet will be


isolated using electrically operated actuator.

RRU Temperature Range:

1. RRU/A1 Temperature Ambient to 10°c

2. RRU/A2 Temperature Ambient to 0°c
