Consultative: Type of Speech Style

There are five main types of speech styles: intimate, casual, consultative, formal, and frozen. The consultative style uses professional language between parties like teachers/students, employers/employees, and doctors/patients. The formal style is used in one-way settings like sermons and addresses. The frozen style remains unchanged over time in documents like constitutions. John Austin's speech act theory defined speech acts as utterances with intentions that aim to provoke responses. There are three types of speech acts: locutionary acts are utterances themselves, illocutionary acts are utterances with intentions like orders or opinions, and perlocutionary acts change feelings or actions in listeners.
