in India that runs school meals. The organization was founded in 2000. Our goal is to help with classroom hunger and children's education. It feeds 1,800,907 children every day across India. The food delivered by Akshaya Patra is considered to be "healthy, nutritious and delicious". Also Aiming to bring children to school, the organization has worked towards reaching more children with wholesome food on every single school day. Continuously leveraging technology to cater to millions of children, their state-of-the-art kitchens have become a subject of study attracting curious visitors from around the world. 2) Facts of case: Renewable utensils produce about 350 kilograms of
organic waste per day in the kitchen. In an effort to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills, the foundation has installed biogas plants in some of its kitchens. The initiative started with centralized kitchens on Earth Day (April 22) 201 at Bellary and Vasantpura (Bengaluru) and has now expanded to six kitchens across the country. Biogas plants with the capacity to process 1 ton (TPD) of organic waste per day produce 120 to 150 m3 of biogas equivalent to 30 kg of LPG. This gas is used in cooking in the kitchen and saves the foundation Rs 38,500 per month. This translates into a saving of about 10% of the energy required for cooking. Another green initiative of the foundation is to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in some of its kitchens. Depending on the weather, the system generates 80-100 units of electricity per day and the daily energy requirement of this power facility e.g. The Bangalore project generates 10 KW of electricity and is utilized entirely by this facility, while the Surat project generates 12 KW of electricity and some of the extra energy is returned to the power supply.
