Text and Visual Media
Text and Visual Media
The image of the main character is the center of interest and does not take up a lot of spaces in
the poster, and the glowing red light on the character’s hands also made it attract the viewer’s
attention. Nevertheless, balance was not a hundred percent effectively achieved on the
background and the persona’s pose because it does not hold the same amount of weight on the
other. However, the colors attained similar visual weight on its dark background and on the light
font above it, making it easier to read on screen. The font of the main title was accurately
emphasized due to its larger font size compared to other subtexts, but all texts are aligned and
consistent.
Senses
The poster poorly applied the design elements and principles of textual and visual media for the
reason that it had overdo the fundamentals. Primarily, the colors as it does not give emphasis to
specific areas or action due to its vivid and cluttered multi-colors; there is no evidence of balance
for it does not create sense of unity and can’t relate with one another; and the movement wasn’t
pulled off well because the form, shape, texture and color failed to correctly guide the viewer’s
eye. In the context of textual media, there is a repeating element of words, the proximity was
deficiently presented, the contrast of the font’s colors doesn’t match to its background, and the
clarity of the texts are not achieved because it isn’t easy to read such inappropriate text sizes.
Harry Potter
The close-up shot of the face of the main character of the film poster of Harry Potter was its
main emphasis, there were quite a lot of images of subjects clipped on the poster but it does not
take the attention away from the main image. However, although these other images convey
meanings, it conflicts with the balance and dominance of the extent of the poster. Even so, the
contrast, color, rhythm, and perspective were at least justified. Harry Potter’s tag line “Journey
beyond your imagination” was appropriate for it shows its genre, the main title was clearly
aligned at the center, the contrast along with the colors of the background was effectively
exhibited, and laid emphasis on; but then again, its subtext wasn’t aligned as it should be.
Titanic
On the poster of Titanic, the picture of the ship takes up most of the shot taken from low angle
perspective; and based on this context, it is clearly shown that there dwell its emphasis and visual
weight as one side holds the same amount of weight on the other. In the picture of the two
characters may also present balance, however in the state of identity and meaning, as well as the
text placement. There is a soft lighting and value denoting the genre of the film; the colors are
neutral that keeps it simple yet elegant to the eyes, and on its extents, the visual design is
harmonious. For the textual elements, the title of the film is in a bold font below as it allows the
main image of the poster to be the main focus, and the other texts were aligned and organized
accordingly. The only little lapse on the textual media is the font style of the acknowledgment of
the actors and actresses name because the font was quite fancy and incomprehensive despite of
the color gold associated on their prestige.
Attack on Titan
The emphasis on the entirety of the poster lies at its center, particularly on the bold title text, its
appropriateness and alignment, as well as the red color fill similar to a blood. Along with this
emphasis is the lead character just behind the title, facing an antagonist which also share out
another importance and that calls attention in the visual design. There is a balance between the
context of the poster, whereas fighting for freedom between titan and human for the salvation of
humanity, as it is apportioned into two segments. In this sense there was still the substance of
harmony as the colors used were dark and that makes the texture blazing representing a
promising epic battle. Although the perspective is noteworthy, as a whole, it kind of look like a
fancy, dark, and to a little degree in disorder.
Monthsary
Initially, when you set your eyes on this poster, anyone could say that the text and design does
not correspond appropriately. Mainly, as the text suggests the celebration of a monthsary, the
design doesn’t fit with its context, only to present a Halloween vibe. There were value and
contrast surrounded on the colors of orange and black on the visual media, yet still unfitting
because of the confusion of the poster’s purpose and meaning. Nonetheless, the text conveyed
alignment and proximity.
La Casa de Papel
The main colors that have been used are black, red, and white giving the poster a strong look.
Consequently, it gave the consistency from averting different color and background, and
furnished contrast by choosing the value of light and perspective. The focus of attention was not
clearly defined because of the ample number of images in the poster, yet it can still be deduced
that there is harmony between these subjects. For the textual media, the texts were organized, the
title was also emphasized, however the placement was picked to be situated on the empty spaces
on the poster, making it unbalanced to looked at, and muddled with the poster as a whole.
Sleep
The colors used on the design element was harnessed, there’s both a dominant and supporting
color. This uses a variety of visual design elements including line, shape, value, and form that
draws viewer’s attention, yet it seems that it lacks harmony because there is an absence in the
sense of organized movement. This is also due to the nonexistence of emphasis and no
consistency among the sizes of the texts, some fonts are similar, some varied, yet the text sizes
are evidently inconsistent.
