Practical 1A: Microsoft Excel 2013

After completing this practical, you will be able to working with a spreadsheet and data list in Excel. You will
know how to format and revise your worksheets, add and move columns and rows, and make the spreadsheet
print correctly.

You are given the source file of “P1 Excel 01.xls” to practice the following tasks.

PART 1: Getting started with Excel PART 2: Working with worksheets

1. Type text and numbers 1. Insert or delete a row or column


2. Edit or delete data 2. Hide or unhide a column
3. Move or copy data 3. Change column width or row height
4. Bold, italicize, or underline text
4. Add or delete or rename a worksheet
5. Apply a number style to cells
5. Move or copy a worksheet

7. Change font or font size or fill color 6. Protect Cells
8. Apply special font effects
9. Change data alignment
10. Add borders and cell styles
11. Copy and clear formatting
12. Check spelling

After applying the above spreadsheet features, your worksheet look similar as show on tutor LCD projector
screen. Please save your worksheet as “P1 Excel 1A OUTPUT_your name.xls” into your pen drive. This file
will be continuing use in Practical 1B.

After completing this practical, you will be able to work with data, formulas, and functions to perform
calculations in your worksheet. You will use Excel’s charting tools to create charts and PivotTable charts.

Please open your file from pen drive called “P1 Excel 1A OUTPUT_your name.xls “to practice the following
