CORPORATE

SOCIAL
RESPONSIBILITY
ASSIGNMENT
OVERVIEW OF CORPORATE SOCIAL
RESPONSIBILITY:

Corporate social responsibility (also known as CSR) is

a term used to describe a company’s efforts to
improve society in some way. These efforts can range
from donating money to nonprofits to implementing
environmentally friendly policies in the work place.
The purpose of corporate social responsibility is to
give back to the community, take part in
philanthropic causes and provide positive social
value. Businesses are increasingly turning to CSR to
make a difference and build a positive brand around
their company. CSR initiatives can help nonprofits
make up that leftover 25% after they have looked to
individual donors. CSR also encourages corporate
volunteerism in the communities where employees
live and work.

strategy of Google. The search giant is devoting its
technological resources to help thousands of them find
quality education and a better career. It has committed

providing funding and Google volunteers to help
code for America develop and scale new
technologies to connect 30,000 job seekers with
training and job search support”.

to address with funds and resources is racial
discrimination. It is devoting its resources to help
those who have been marginalized or discriminated
against on the basis of race.

Google is working to advance equity and inclusion in

the American system which is currently marked by a
heavy degree of racial bias. People of color are facing
very heavy degree of discrimination in the American
Society. Moreover, based upon data and research

imprisoned once in a lifetime. Grant funding by
Google is currently focused on organizations working
to addressing racial bias and inequity in the United
States. Moreover, it plans to invest in organizations
using data science and innovative new approaches to
identify and analyze bias in the criminal system and
support movement leaders who are changing the
national narrative on race. The focus of Google is also
on the criminal justice system and its digitation and
analysis to identify and address racial bias.
