What I Need to Know

On basic connotation, sewing can be done merely with a needle and thread.
That is what all it takes to solve some of life’s everyday problems such as a missing
button, a fraying seam, a hole in need of patching up. Well, that can be considered
as the basics. As you learn how to sew, it can be overwhelming when you see all the
different sewing tools and materials. There are a lot of options to use but essentially you
can get by with this by further knowing the sewing tools and materials and their proper
usage. Each of which is under various categories specified with unique use.

Learning Objectives:

1. Identify sewing tools and equipment and their uses.

1.1. Identify sewing tools and equipment
1.2. Classify sewing machines
1.3. Describe uses of sewing tools

SEWING TOOLS AND MATERIALS

The different sewing tools and equipment are mostly used in garment
construction. The good and efficient use of the different sewing tools and equipment
will enable accurate yet fast body measurement and pattern drafting. To make
sewing a successful one, right tools must be used in right time and must also be in
correct order to ensure maximum results of proper time management and
productivity. In this module, you will be specifically learning measuring tools, marking
tools, pinning and sewing tools, cutting tools, types and parts of sewing machine.
