This service bulletin addresses a paper empty mis-detection issue in several Kyocera Mita printer models when the paper cassette is full. The leading edge of the actuator may get caught on paper, causing the error. To resolve this, the actuator angle and shape of the plate cover were changed. Specifically, 1) the actuator angle was lowered 10 degrees and 2) the plate cover was modified to prevent interference from the actuator. The service bulletin provides details on the new part numbers and specifies that the latest cover must be used with the new actuator.

Subject: Paper empty mis-detection when the paper cassette is full

Phenomenon Paper empty may be mis-detected, if the Paper cassette is fully loaded with paper.
Cause The leading edge of the Actuator may be caught by the paper.
Solution 1. The angle of the Actuator stoppage has been changed.
2. Due to the above mentioned change, the shape of the Plate cover DU has been changed (To
prevent interference by the Cover DU)

Field measure The old type of the Cover DU interferes with the latest type of the Actuator. Therefore use the
latest type of the Cover DU (Parts plate cover DU assy SP) when replacing the Actuator with
the latest type.

Serial numbers of affected machines


Type Serial number
FS-1028MFP/1128MFP/1030MFP/1130MFP/1035MFP/1135MFP November 2011 production.
The above mentioned changes have been applied to machines produced after the above mentioned production date.
