Chola Village Administration

The Chola village administration had an efficient system of local governance. Villages were divided into wards headed by headmen. The most important person was the Mahasalha who administered justice and resolved disputes. A village council also existed to manage local affairs. The Cholas established a model village administration system across their empire to facilitate effective governance.
