Internship Weekly Report - Week 1
Internship Weekly Report - Week 1
Day Event/Activities
Tuesday, 1. Due to Malaysian government Total Lockdown order across
8th June 2021 the country, the accepted internship program in National
Metrology Institute of Malaysia (NMIM) started with Work
from Home from 8th June 2021 to 14th June 2021 and further
task will be discuss in future.
2. First day of internship, I had webinar with my supervisor Dr.
Mohammad Fauzi through Microsoft Teams for self-
introduction and tasks explanation during the internship
period. The history of NMIM and SIRIM were also explained
during the webinar.
3. I was assigned to attend webinar along the week as
introduction towards industrial equipment and the
understanding of the mechanism.
4. The first webinar was held by Anton Paar for their equipment
Compact digital density meter: DMA. The webinar was
hosted by Thomas Dokter and presented by Barbara Klug-
Santner with her partner Hannes Schleifer through Cisco
Webex Meetings.
5. Density meters are instruments that measure the density of a
fluid sample. Density meters work by measuring the
oscillation of a glass tube that contains the sample. After
reaching a stable oscillation, the excitation is switched off
and the oscillation fades out freely. This sequence
continuously repeated resulting high precision of density
results. DMA density meter can be used in various industries
and applications.
Wednesday, 1. Continue with webinar that also held by Anton Paar for their
9th June 2021 equipment Particle size analyzer: PSA hosted by Preshie
Naidoo and presented by Varsha Ramdeen through Cisco
Webex Meetings.
2. Particle size analyzer was establish by using laser diffraction
technique which able to measure particle sizes from the
upper nanometre to the millimetre range. The principle of
laser diffraction is determining the particle size distributions
by measuring the angular variation in intensity of light
scattered as a laser beam passes through a dispersed a
sample. Anton Paar’s PSA insatruments works with high-
resolution detectors providing accurate signals that used to
calculate particle size distributions based on the Fraunhofer
and Mie theories which guarantees compliance with ISO
13320 and USP <429> standards.
Thursday, 1. Continue with webinar held by Waters introducing high- and
10th June 2021 USP resolution mass spectrometer system, Waters SELECT
SERIES MRT that combines Multi Reflecting Time-of-Flight
(MRT) technology with both enhanced DESI and new MALDI
imaging sources.
2. SELECT SERIES MRT capable of attaining 200 00 Full
Width Half Maximum (FWHM) resolution and part-per-
million(ppm) mass accuracy allowing faster and highest
quality mass spectrometry data. SELECT SERIES MRT
combines Muli Reflecting Time-of Flight technology with both
enhanced DESI and new MALDI imaging sources.
Friday, 1. The day started with reciting Sura Yassin with other
11th June 2021 employer in NMIM through Microsoft Teams following with
short discussion.
2. Continue with webinar held by LCGC Europe Webcast
presented by Mark Perkins and Vaughan Langford on High-
Sensitivity and High-Throughput Food and Flavour Marker
Analysis in Real-time.
