Speech on Indian Culture in English

Good morning everyone, I am here to present the speech on the topic of “Indian
culture”. In Malaysia, there are various cultures and traditions which are
followed by the 3 main races namely the Malays, Chinese and Indians. For
Indians, Culture and traditions plays an important role in their daily basis.
Culture comprises of all the good ways of living of people in a civilization.
Culture consists of the beliefs, customs, traditions, ethical and moral values of
groups of persons.  People with similar culture live together in general.  People of a
region have a culture that evolves over many decades.

Today, let me share my views on what is the most amusing thing about Indian
Culture. Give it a thought. Ok! Meanwhile you think about it, I would like to
talk about 3 main criteria in Indian culture. It is India’s culture that fascinates
me the most. Indian has unique amalgamation of cultures, religions and beliefs.
Perhaps no other culture of the world presents such a fascinating medley of a
rich and variegated heritage that is as old as the civilization itself. Our culture
has a wonderful capacity of assimilating other beliefs as well as deeply
influencing other thoughts and traditions. For Indians, Culture and traditions
plays an important role in their daily basis. Culture comprises of all the good
ways of living of people in a civilization.  Culture consists of the beliefs, customs,
traditions, ethical and moral values of groups of persons.  People with similar
culture live together in general.  People of a region have a culture that evolves over
many decades.

Indian culture is perfectly created out of the values that permeate its soul.
India’s social customs, religious and spiritual concepts, education, literature all
come together to create what we call as its culture. It is also known as ‘Mother
of Cultures’. Music, dance, painting, sculpture and other art forms, agriculture,
science, and industry all sectors trace their roots back to centuries.

The strength of Indian culture has always been in its broad-heartedness, its
ability to accept and assimilate other thoughts wholeheartedly. Giving respect
and reverence to elders is the cornerstone of Indian culture. Our guest is our
God; it is a very common cultural trend of this country.
Indian cultures are very proud able for that person who believes it and follows
it. There are many of the tradition in India like respect to the elders, be truthful,
honest and also helps the other people. It all the culture of our country and we
should follow it. HERE I have found a video as an explanation for the tradition
that Indian community are follow up till now.

The cultures like a religious festival, cultural activities with the family and
neighbours. The culture leads to the right approach to marriage and death in the
family as has been followed over centuries.
The tradition of the joint family:
In Indian culture, the joint family also involves. It is the culture of the country
and it has a lot of advantages. The joint family all shares the problem with each
other. If any crisis comes in this family, then solve it. Family members can
address the problem after discussed with each other people and get together for
discussion, which is more than not the right one. The other aspect of a joint
family is that strength lies in members. It is the prime factor of today that when
if a family member is ill or goes out of the station to work, he has the mental
confidence of his family being looked after and being safe.
In the joint family also has the disruption of the tradition. Here, every member
wants to take their own decision without any other member’s disruption. It
creates difficulties for others. The joint family also has these systems in our
society that the son leaves the family and lives with his wife after getting
married. It is a very wrong reason for the disintegration of a joint family.
Rituals and religious activity in the Indian culture:
In Indian culture, people are deeply involved in religious activity. There are
several rituals in any such religious functions which are difficult to understand
in the right perspective and the present generation, moving away from tradition,
try to be sarcastic about them.
These traditional activities result in persons learning about their heritage,
religion and other spiritualty in the company of seniors.

In food habits too, Indian presents a mind-blowing variety, People follow

variety of food culture like beaten rice, bonda, bread omlette, banana chips,
poha, aloo papad, puffed rice, upma, dosa, edli, Chinese, etc. People of other
religions have some different food cultures like sevaiyan, biryani, tanduri,
mathi, etc.

Indian Cuisine: The main reason why Indian cuisines are famous not only in
India but also all over the world is quite obvious. Due to the diverse nature of
the Indian food, people all over the world are aware of most of the chief recipes
and also their unique style of cooking the food makes it really more interesting
for an individual.

We all know that food is one such thing which greatly depicts the culture and
the art of a particular country. There are various other things which are used to
represent the country’s integrity but it is the food which has a huge impact on
the minds of the people.
Hence there must be quite perfectness in the food of a particular country so as to
leave a lasting impression on the minds of the people. Cuisine is a particular
dish or recipe which is prepared in a specified region.
There are many reasons for the success of Indian food all over the world. First
of all the food prepared here is full of spices as India is famous for its numerous
kinds of spices. These spices besides adding the taste to the food, also adds the
color which plays an important role in the good taste.
Besides that, Indian deserts are also plays an important role in Indian Cuisine.
For example as shown in the screen behind. Especially after a Signature Spicy
Meals. When the food looks good, it is generally praised and this can be one of
the reasons why any indian cuisine is famous. Moreover, the aroma which is
added to the food by various types of techniques has a major part in the taste of
the food.
The food in India besides being healthy is also good for health purposes and this
makes it more popular in the other countries. People with any kind of taste from
any part of the world are comfortable with Indian cuisine recipes and this itself
is a proof of the success of the Indian food.

The Indian youths feel proud to be connected to diverse cultural trends and
often opt to be a part of showcasing the Indian cultural trend in their schools,
colleges and institutions.
The wonder that is India has managed to survive the ravages of time, several
external aggression and centuries of foreign rule. This even strengthens my
thought and interest of knowing more about Indian culture.

Being the citizens of this mesmerizing country, we all should feel proud to be
born in this cradle of civilization. It is a rare experience that India amongst all
countries gives us. A perfect blend of diverse customs, beliefs, traditions and
what not. Along with being a part of this wonderful culture we should make
sure that we continue to create its awareness amongst the coming generation as
well. Our message is the first thing that will create the impact in their life and
which will further lead to enrichment of Indian culture.

Thank You!

After finishing the presentation and looking back on the effort we've made as a 4-member
team, I can clearly see that we had a lot of strengths but also a lot of weaknesses as a team.
The result of what we have achieved is that our presentation was one of the best. My
experience at the University of Greenwich so far I've been a student in University of
Greenwich since October, and I can honestly say that I am more than pleased with the lessons
I've attended.
The majority of the teachers are highly educated, so that gives us the opportunity to learn
more things through the experience they have and as Albert Einstein said ''The only source of
knowledge is experience''. I think since studying at the University of Greenwich of all my
expectations have been met through the material our teachers provide us. Generally, the high
standard of all the courses makes me try more and more and gives me motivation, forgetting
the difficulties I face.

I feel very comfortable being with my other colleagues and since I am a student of the
University I became very social and the good knowledge of the English language gives me an
advantage that other students don't have. The advantage of working as a group Thinking back
on the experience of our group exercise I can hopefully say that I met my expectations fair
enough. Unfortunately, we faced a problem with the presentation so we couldn't show some
pictures of what we were describing. Working with the other 3 colleagues, taught me
cooperation with other people, something that all of us will definitely meet through our
‘’working life’’.

It was very beneficial to work as a team because as Ken Blanchard said ''None of us is as
smart as all of us''. That means that one mind is better than one and the teamwork provides
more ideas that an individual person. So, the result of our presentation came from the
feedback we received from the other colleagues, who were very satisfied with our work. A
problem we had as a team was that it was sometimes difficult to arrange the time we could
meet to finish the presentation. That thing was caused by the different schedules everyone
had, which is acceptable.

Conclusion

Ending my reflective report, it is clear that working with other colleagues, makes me improve
my working skills as a result of knowing the difficulties I will probably face in a real
working environment. It is known that this exercise will also help me during the first year,
since i would have more experience than before in other presentations more difficult than this
one.

Reflection on presentation
22 September 2009 Michael Khan Leave a comment Go to comments

As I look back on my presentation and the preparation that when into it I am

amazed by the amount I’ve leaned from this one small exercise. This was my first
proper presentation in a long time therefore I didn’t have much practice presenting
in the last few years and had to do a lot of work preparing for it. Although there
was a lot of work in preparing for this exercise, improvements can always be made.

Before I started this exercise I really didn’t know the amount of work that would
go into a presentation. I thought I could put together a presentation in 20 minutes
and look over it once and be ready to present it. I now know that this isn’t realistic
if you want to make a good presentation. My slide show alone took nearly an hour
to decide what was going to go into it and make it. I then had to look over it and
look into things I was going to say during each slide as the slides contained only
small bullet points that needed to be further explained. Usually a lot more time
would have to go into researching the topic of the presentation as I was very
familiar with the topic and only had to research some small parts concerning the
history of the sport and a how big the NFL is in the world.

In the rest of this reflection I am going to write reflecting on different parts of my

presentation and how I could have done it better and improve it for the next time.

I definitely found that to make a presentation on a topic the presenter must have an
interest and a great knowledge of the topic. I didn’t think this was a problem with
my presentation as we were allowed to make the presentation on any topic we
wished so I could pick a topic I was very interested and had a good knowledge of.
For future presentations I believe more research must go into the topic if I am not
so familiar with it.

I also found that if visual aid is going to be used for the presentation, like a power
point presentation a lot of work has to go into developing and making sure that the
visual aid isn’t the whole presentation and that you have other notes to help with it.
It is also important that if visual aid is going to be used you make sure that it will
work at the time of the presentation. I didn’t think this was a big problem with my
presentation as I tried to have more things to say than just what was on the slides
and after witnessing a power point presentation that didn’t work on the computer I
made sure to test mine before the presentation to make sure that everything was
working fine.

I found that structure of the presentation is very important so that the audience can
follow it and understand the presentation. I had a problem with this in my
presentation. My presentation was poorly structured and therefore hard to follow.
For future presentations I will try to pick a structure that will suit my topic.

Finding what information is relevant to a presentation is key so that you make sure
that you present all important parts of the topic and don’t make it tedious for the
addressees. I had a small problem with this in my presentation. I expanded too
much into the structures of the NFL and left out key information about the rules
and pitch markings and sizes. For future presentations I will try to make the
information in the presentation more relevant to the audience.

Nervousness is a major problem for many people during public speaking. I was a
bit nervous during my presentation and I thought that it may have resulted in me
leaving out parts of what I was going to say. I think that nervousness is a problem
that can only be solved with experience and every presentation I believe that I will
get better at dealing with it.

The delivery of the presentation is crucial for its success.  The delivery of my
presentation could have been better.  My voice could have been louder and more
variant. I think the solution to this problem is to practice more when getting ready
for the presentation.

I would like to thank my fellow classmates and lecturer for the feedback I was
given for this presentation which helped me write this reflection and improve my
presenting skills.
