Change Into His Image

This paper discusses what the author learned from a course called "Change Into His Image." 1. The author learned that true biblical change comes from transforming the inner self, not just changing outward behaviors or circumstances. 2. A key part of changing is recognizing and mortifying the evil desires within due to humanity's fallen nature, and relying on God's forgiveness and power to overcome sin. 3. Self-reflection revealed the author's own tendency to be a "Cooperative Rebel" who only obeys when it benefits themselves. They are committed to focusing on doing what is right because it is God's will. 4. Surrendering one's independence and pride

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO CHANGE TO HIS IMAGE

A Research Paper
PRESENTED TO: Pastor Josiah Wambua
INDEPENDENT BAPTIST COLLEGE OF MINISTRY

In partial fulfillment
Course sturdy: Change Into His Image.

by:
Peter Kitonga
January 16, 2009
Introduction:

I am obliged for all that I have learned in the study CHANGE INTO HIS IMAGE

It has helped me realize myself more than I knew about myself. In nearly or almost all the lesson, I

would receive a correction, a rebuke or an instruction guiding me in the next level of growth. I in

fact, think it the lesson Is made for people like me who struggle with their Christian life and some

time doubt if they are saved at all. The study did counsel me in the most difficult issues concerning

salvation, mortification and justification. I am more sure that I am saved and there is no way I could

lose my salvation even when am in the wrong I can still talk to God about it and ask for forgiveness

and he is faithful and just to forgive me. I would recommend this study to all Christians.

These, are the things I learned and the steps I will take to change into his image as well as change

others:-

1. UNDERSTANDING BIBLICAL CHANGE

In this lesson, while just in the introduction, although I knew that sanctification is progressive. I

learned that most of what we do or how we act is what is inside us .Dr. Jim Berg demonstrated this

by illustrating with the tea bag and how when it was inserted into hot water it changed the taste of

the water. Therefore, the things we do are as a result of what we have inside us such as hate, love,

jealousy, envy, lie etc. And the surrounding is only changed by the change of our inside. It to my

side is something I need to work on because in most of the time I have blamed my surrounding

when I fail without knowing I can change that by changing my attitude towards failure.
Consecration requires humility a heart of a servant while the Holy spirit is the person that enable it

though a process. This process is

1. The flesh is restrained when we mortify the flesh.

2. The mind is renewed when we meditate in Gods Word.

3. And Christ is revealed and manifestation of Christ will be seen into us.

I have been lazy in the reading of the bible and though this lessons I have realized that one of the

ways I have failed is by not reading the bible. I tried reading it more often and to my supprice I have

became more and more stronger in Christ and there is no doubt in me no more. This past days,

after putting to action what I have learned I have had people asking me if I am saved because after

observing me they realize I am an example of a Christian in did. Christ has showed himself in me

in wonderful ways.

2. RECOGNIZING THE EVIL WITHIN

This has been a very troubling question to me. Why we still end up in sin even after receiving

Christ? It is during this lesson that I learned that we all have an indwelling of sin in us that corrupts

every part of us. But this is not something to boggle about since we have a hope of redemption

through Christ Jesus.

The flesh :-

1. Defies God Rom 8;7.

2. Defile man Gal 6:8.

3. Deceives man Heb 3:13, Jer 17:9.

4. Destroys man Rom 8:13.

I realized I should not be lovers of the flesh but lovers of God. Trusting in God and meditating in his

word and continually confessing my sins to Jesus who by grace forgives me, make me different
from the rest of the unbelievers who haven’t received Christ an therefore do not have pardon for

their sins. The more sin you accumulate the more you are likely to suffer guilt in your Christian life.

But if you came clean and confess your sin you are likely to feel more peace inside and avoid

falling into sin next time.

3. IDENTIFYING YOUR OWN WAY

Since we have a designer lust and sin without even realizing we must identify our own way by

Knowing where we fall in the rebellion categories. Are we Assertive rebels, Cooperative rebels, or

passive rebels? By knowing this we press towards not becoming rebels therefore fulfilling God will

and avoiding Sin.

I learned here that I am in fact am a Cooperative Rebel and many people fall in the same category

as I do. I only remember to do what is important to me and what I will benefit by doing but if there is

no consequences, I forget or decline.

By learning this, I know now the area I need to work on and change into God’s will. I decided that I

don’t need to benefit to cooperate but to do things that are right because they should be done for it

is Gods will.

4. GETTING IN YOUR PLACE

As long as I have free moral choice, as I had once believed, God also created man to be

dependant in fact Adam the first Man was not made Autonomous. We fail because we chose to be

independent from God. God humbles one so as we can trust and be dependant on him. A humbled

person is not self-justified, self-protective or self-confident but relies on God. God sends us a

problem we can’t handle to expose our helplessness. God gives us a command we won’t obey to

expose our self-centerness. God can arrange an out came we can’t control to expose our

sinfulness. God can show us a God we can’t comprehend to expose our finiteness/ shortcomings.
Therefore I learned to be vigilant when these problems, commands or outcomes come my way and

be able to handle them and even avoid them by shunning sin.

Conclusion:

CHANGE INTO HIS IMAGE has thought me more and I have made a covenant with my flesh and

spirit to change even as Christ wants me to be. I intend to use my knowledge to change others to

that may fall In the same category and don’t know the solution just as I was in. Amen
