The Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Right is about the protection of human
well-being against any misused and abused of science, biological and medical research. Also, to
promote an ethical way to the development of science without stepping on rights of every
human being.

2. Who are the parties/signatories to the instrument?

The parties involved in the Universal Declaration of Bioethics and Human Rights are UNESCO
(United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), and IBC (International
Bioethics Committee) in a general conference in October 19, 2005.

3. What article/s or section/s of the instrument articulates the centrality of human rights vis-
à-vis science, technology, and development?

The Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights presented abundance of provisions
and principles that clearly states its main objective and its assertions through sections. The
instrument includes 28 articles, and each affirms the ideas include.

4. How does the instrument safeguard human rights in the face of science and technology?

In those 28 articles it’s all about equality, security and privacy of every individual in the
community with this article every people has a guard or a law that makes every individual of us
has a right.

5. What challenges stand in the way of the instrument and its key principles in safeguarding
human rights amidst the changing scientific and technological context?

The form of the instrument does not prevent its content contribution to a code of university
recognized general principles of bioethics such as (human dignity, solidarity, freedom of
research, respect of privacy, confidentially, non-confidentially, informed consent, integrity of
research and intellectual honesty.)
