Microsoft Word-2013 - parts and functions

Microsoft word is a word-processing application—perhaps the most widely used word-processing application. You can use Word
to write letters, memos, reports, and essays.

PARTS FUNCTIONS
File Tab Provides access to the backstage view
Quick Appears above the file tab, gives access to the most frequently used commands like save , undo, and redo
Access
Tool Bar
Title Bar Displays the program name currently in use
Ribbon Contains commands previously hidden in menus, can be readily accessed from the tabs on the ribbon.
Tabs Each tab contains specific functions and different command groups that represents the different tasks in the MS
Word.

Home Clipboard, fonts, paragraph, styles, and editing
Insert Pages, tables, illustrations, links, header and footer, text and symbols
Page Layout Themes, page, setup, page background, paragraph, arrange
References: Table of contents, footnotes, citations and bibliography, captions, index, and table of
authorities.
Mailings Create, start Mail Merge, Write and insert fields, preview results, finish.
Review Proofing, Language, comments, tracking, changes, compare, protect.
View Document views, show, zoom, Window, Macros

View Used to display the active document in different views:


Buttons - Print Layout, Full Screen Reading, Web Layout, Outline, and Draft
Scroll Bars Use the horizontal and vertical scroll bars to view parts of the document not shown within the document window.
Status Bar Displays various important information such as total number of pages in a document, which pages is currently
active, and the position of the insertion point in the document.
Ruler Displays document margins and tab stops
Zoom Used to enlarge or reduce the appearance a document’s contents within the document window
Document Where the typed text on the document is shown. You can have more than one document window open at a time
Window allowing you to work on several documents.
Dialog Box Click the small arrow at the lower-right corner of a command group to open its respective dialog box for additional
Launcher functions.
