Nila, The Story of a Brave Girl
Nila, a young girl of 14, is a student of class 9 of Noapara. She was a poor girl but had
an aspiration to help her family for a better life. On her way to school, a boy named
Alom used to tease her very often. But rather she didn’t get frustrated. She faced it
with much courage. Alom and some of his friends waited every day for Nila to arrive
on the way of Nila’s peregrinated. He, along with some of his friends, used to ask
many questions in uncomfortable way by stopping her. She precluded him not to
disturb her and to be modest. She also told him that she was the eldest of five
children—three daughters and two sons and her father was a day labour who
worked at other people’s land while her mother was a homemaker who worked as a
part-time worker at other people’s homes and so the parents particularly the mother
found it very difficult to raise the five children on the small income the father could
earn. Nila also told him that thus she had a dream of pursuing further and begged
him to stop doing so. But they didn’t pay any heed to her. One day, while she was
going to a school on a two-wheeler vehicle, bike-borne eve-teasers passed
derogatory comments on her and were trying to overtake her vehicle performing
stunts to impress her. She felt much annoyance because of this kind of behavior. So
she thought much over the problem. She additionally thought that if she took any
expeditious action against him, he might be more truculent. So thinking much, she
informed the matter to the Headmaster of their school without feeling any anxiety.
After he'd assessed the matter, he talked to the Chairman of their village about the
matter. The Chairman, justifying the case’s truth, led an expedition surreptitiously
and apprehended Alam and his friends at red headed. She was therefore able to get
rid of the problem. Now, she goes to school without having any type of annoyance
on the way and is able to focus on her education.
