Fundamentals in Guidance and Counseling

 To upgrade the teachers’ professional and emotional growth.
 To establish linkages with the Alumni, PTCA, LGU and other stakeholders in order to gain support on its various programs and projects.
 To enhance and strengthen the corporate social responsibilities among various stakeholders.
 To intensify the research program of the undergraduate and graduate studies.
 To conduct institutional research.

Vision: The College of Teacher Education is envisioned to be a leading academic provider of globally competent and efficient teachers of the future
through quality and affordable education, focusing on the effective and holistic professional development in a dynamic society.

Mission: The College of Teacher Education of Northern Mindanao Colleges Inc., commits to provide interdisciplinary, and value-laden courses in teacher
education; to produce quality empowered and committed teachers in the country.

Goal: The College of Teacher Education aims to:

1. Help prepare students to be highly competent in their teaching profession, involvement in community outreach program and services.
2. Develop pedagogical knowledge, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
3. Collaborate with students, parents, community members and colleagues to support student learning and development.

Program Intended Learning Outcomes: The graduates have the ability to:

Course Intended Learning Outcomes: At the end of the course, the student must have:
1. Understand basic concepts of guidance programs.
2. Explain the concept of guidance and counseling.
3. Describe characteristics and skills of a counselor and guidance personnel.
4. Discuss about the scope of the guidance services.
5. Apply the different tools and techniques used in running the guidance program/services.
6. Demonstrate the different models of program development.
7. Plan the guidance physical facilities and budget as essential in the implementation of the Guidance Program.

Course Title Fundamentals of Guidance and Counseling
Course Description Guidance and Counseling constitutes one of the newer fields of educational psychology. Guidance and Counseling has been defined in the Rules and
Regulations of Republic Act 9258, Rule 1, Section 3 (Manila Standard, 2007), as a profession involving an “integrated approach to the development of a
well-functioning individual by helping him or her to utilize his/her potentials to the fullest and plan his/her present and future in accordance with his/her
abilities, interests and needs.
