Toolbox

On the left side of the Work Area is a window called Toolbox. In the Toolbox
You will find all the tools designed to assist you
during the design drawing and updating process. For
your convenience, the different tools have been
divided into groups according to their functionality.
When you select this tab, another 14 will be revealed,
each with its own name according to the functionality
of the tools.

For example, if we select Window Tools we will find general tools for working
with files
(Tools that are generically Windows) plus a few other
Optitex specifies that will allow us to create models.

  Status Bar

The status bar is located at the bottom of the screen. This provides useful information
about the use of the different tools that are active, also indicates the state in which the
file and the units of measures are located.
The status bar is divided into two sections:

 Tool Used, in the Left sector, indicates a short description of the tool or icon
when the course is positioned above the icon. Once activated with a clip, the steps
to follow the icon will appear.

Pasos a seguir corte o coser protegido unidad

 Status of the activated part, in the center and right sector, indicates the status
of the selected part, displays the following information:

          Cutting or sewing line.

         Protected part, etc.
 Unit of measurement: cm or inch

SIDE TAB
 The side tabs will appear on your screen and represent windows that were unticed.
The side tabs guarantee you easy access to a different number of windows in the
program. These windows are divided into two categories:

 1. Design Assistance Windows Contain properties, measurements, part values,

as well as tools that will assist you as you design patterns.
 2. 3D Windows Contain the 3D tools and properties of the program.

 If you have not changed the location of the windows, the 3D Tabs will appear on the right of your
screen and the Design Assistance tabs will appear on the left. If in 3D you are looking for those tabs
that are not found, go to the menu: View / 3D. This will present the list of all 3D screens from which
you can select the desired one.

and be located
Automatically in the side tabs when not working, click on the click, this will take
a horizontal position.
In order to move a window within its screen to a new location, click on the title bar
of the window and with the help of the mouse drag it to the desired position. Notice
that arrows indicating all four directions appeared on the screen. If you go through the
mouse pointer through one of these arrows it becomes darker and the Windows will
be placed in the desired position according to the arrow
File Management
Tree structure
Following the installation of the program, it is advisable to create a file tree in which
we will save the models that we will design next. The structure of the tree should be
established by you according to your work needs.
Maintaining a correct order of the files is of the utmost necessity in order to
facilitate the fast and correct work. Likewise, the correct file management will
eliminate the possibility of losing information and working hours. Optitex works like
any other Windows program when it comes to opening and closing files.
You can copy files from one place to another within the same disk or on a network.
They can be stored in portable memories, burned on disks, etc.

Here are a number of recommendations about file management

Use Folders: It is advisable to always save files within folders. Folders in the
Windows world are like a drawer in the real world. Imagine that your models are kept
in a certain drawer in relation to the Model Season or the collection. Sub-folders can
be created that can be saved within a folder.

Never save your files in the Optitex folder

2 Do not generate your folders inside the OptiTex folder on disk C. This folder is
not permanent, whenever a new version or an update is installed; it may
disappear or be overwritten by this update.
Set up main folders to save the models: We recommend you to create a capeta
called "Patterns", within this folder, create sub.-folders, one for each collection.
For example "Women-Summer-2008", the latter also divided into
sub-folders according to the type of fabric, model, etc. For
example, create folder for T-Shirt Shirts, Sweatshirts, Pants,
etc. Files created in the OptiTex PDS program will be saved
within this folder tree.

Here's an example of the File saving process:

Get the idea that I have just created a new model of pants for the collection Summer, 2008, Women)

1. From the "File" menu select the "Save As" option

2. Select the disk on which your folders are located, for example "D"
3. Open the "Patterns" folder by double-clicking on this
4. Open the sub-folder corresponding to the year of the collection, "2008"
5. Open the sub-folder "Summer"
6. Open the sub-folder "Women"
7. Open the sub-folder”Pants”
8. In the”save” field click.

Use of the Mouse

The use of the mouse in Optitex programs is similar to any other in Windows-based
programs. In Optitex we use the two-button mouse with Wheel in the

Left button – This button is used as a Selection button, When you press once on a
piece or internal element, you will select the element.
In order to select a tool, we will do it with the help of the same button, likewise, the
use of the tool is with this button.
 Right button – Pressing this button will open a new selection list of tools, it is a shortcut of the
most used tools, likewise the right button can be used to override the tool used, moving to the
Selection Tool

 Wheel/Middle Button: Tightening the Wheel once is a shortcut of the Zoom All
Option, i.e. all parts will appear within the work area
 The other option is to roll the wheel forward or backward, forward, generates
Distancing you the piece(s) in the work area, backwards is approach.

Clockwise
When it is designed, they create changes to the parts or when we select an internal
or external segment, etc. You should always work on a schedule .
The law of time sense is relevant when we add points or pickets in the part/segment.
4. Clockwise Labor Law

Clockwise
When it is designed, they create changes to the parts or when we select an internal or
external segment, etc. You should always work on a schedule .
The law of time sense is relevant when we add points or pickets in the part/segment.

Let's say we need to add a point to a segment, we will use the tool "Add a point to
the outline

In the window that will open we must set the exact location of the point. The
location of the point will be in relation to the
the first or last point in
the segment. Common
sense tells us that the first
point is the one before the
new point on the left, and
so on

According to the example

window (Point
Attributes) the Absolute
values that appear at the
bottom: Previous
Point=746.62 and Next
Point=608.26 indicates
the measurements of the
line travel (see drawing)
from the point before the
new point and from the
new point to the next
point.
Select Parts and Items

There will always be a selected piece in the work Aria. We can identify the selected
piece since it is surrounded by a dotted line and can be painted in different color from
the other pieces. There are tools that, in order to be usable, must first select the part on
which to work.

In a selected part, you can select points or internal elements (or both). If you need to
select internal elements, you must first select the part and then select the inner
element. When an internal element is selected, it will also be circumcised by a dotted
line. The selection of a segment in a piece, is in other words, the selection of a series
of points, to select a line of points, we must select the first point and then the last,
dragging the mouse to the last point, always in sendito of the clock, likewise, it is not
necessary to mark the points between these two.

Working with Coordinate System "X" "Y"

Every point or element uses as its starting point the coordinates (0;0) for the middle
of it and has information about the X and Y coordinates in relation to this point and a
different point that we created previously.
This sentence seems very complicated, but in reality it is very simple, it means that
once we move a point, the system will ask us where we want to move this point. The
movement information will be entered in relation to the X and Y lines. This way the
system will know the exact location of the new point relative to the previous position
of the point.

Also when creating a new point, this is the information you need to know. The system will check with us where to locate
or create the point in reation ti previous points
For example, we want to move a point indicated one (1) centimeters to the right and

two (2) centimeters up, select the "Move Point" tool and move the point
to the desired place The
Point movement window will open in order to enter information from the
the desired position of the point. In the window on the left that has a red arrow that
indicates to the right we will write 1, this is the coordinate

X, and the window on the right that has a red arrow indicating upwards we will write 2, this is the Y
coordinate. If we wanted to move the line down, we should write the value in negative (-2) so the
Use of the ALT key The key <ALT>of your keyboard has a very varied use, its main
function is the opening of the motion help windows (as in the previous example or when
creating a new point) As long as these windows have been disabled, this function is
carried out by pressing the key while releasing the mouse <ALT>button.</ALT>
</ALT>Mover una Pieza

 Also as in a real table, you can be moved, rotated through the entire work area.
These movements will have no implication when placing the pieces on the
(marked) cutting table as long as we have not made any modification to the
location and direction of the poise line. In order to move a piece, we will
simply select it with the help of the mouse (Left button) and without releasing
this button we will move the piece to the desired place. Getting Started with
OptiTex PDS Below we will indicate the steps to follow in PDS. From the
digitization with the help of the Digitizer, ways to make corrections and
updates to the model, add Sizes and measures until saving and printing.
Attention: The steps indicated here are only as a recommendation, and are
appropriate to the first steps with the program. The way to use is very free and
as you are gaining experience in the use of the program, you will be able to
establish your own way of working ...e en conjunto "Delete" + "Shift"
