Assignment 2 Non Verbal and Verbal Comm

Verbal communication uses words to convey messages through speaking or writing, while non-verbal communication uses body language. Examples of verbal communication are speaking to friends or in class, while non-verbal examples include smiling, waving, or acting cute. The appropriate register, whether casual or formal, depends on factors like who you are communicating with and the topic. Non-verbal cues can contribute to miscommunication if they contradict spoken messages, generating tension or confusion. Actions are more important than words because actions are required to accomplish anything, whereas words alone do nothing.

concisely. Submit your response in PDF file and drag it into the activity
box intended for this.
1. What is the difference between verbal and non-verbal communication?
Provide an example in each kind
Verbal communication is the use of words to convey a message. Some
forms of verbal communication are written and
oral communication. Nonverbal communication is the use of body
language to convey a message.
Verbal communication Examples Non-verbal Communication
Examples
Speaking calmly to friends Smiling to others
Speaking angry to enemy Waving hands to a friend in
distance
Speaking tagalog in Filipino class Finger heart to your love ones
Speaking English in English class Act cute to her boyfriend
Talking to friend in telephone Point a finger to an object

2. What special factors influence the kind of register to be used? Why is there
a need to be mindful of these registers?
There are a number of factors that must be considered. Who am I
speaking/writing to, what am I talking about, is it a formal conversation
or is it an academic paper? If I am talking to a friend, the register will be
casual, whereas even if I am speaking to a friend and the subject matter
is not casual, such as a serious illness or death of a family member, the
register will be completely different.
3. How can non-verbal cues contribute to communication breakdown?
(Breakdown is miscommunication among participants.)
When your nonverbal signals match up with the words you're saying,
they increase trust, clarity, and rapport. When they don't,
they can generate tension, mistrust, and confusion.
.
4. Do you agree with the quotation: “Action speaks louder than words”?
Yes or No? Explain.
I agree with the statement actions speak louder than
words because actions are the only thing that actually does anything.
Without actions nothing would be done and words don't do anything.
