Technical Notes For IGC Plates

This document outlines technical requirements for steel plates to be used in IGC applications. It specifies that plates must meet material specifications for chemical composition, physical properties, dimensions and tolerances. Test reports for mandatory tests like tensile and hardness tests must be provided and correlated to heat marks on plates. Stainless steel plates must be hot rolled, solution heat treated, quenched, and have a No. 1 finish surface. Dimensions and exact numbers of plates are required. Mill test certificates must be submitted and plates will undergo pre-dispatch inspection and IGC testing according to ASTM standards. Any deviations from the requirements must be clearly highlighted.

TECHNICAL NOTES FOR IGC PLATES

1. Chemical composition, physical properties, tests, dimensions,

tolerances and marking shall conform to the relevant plate material
specification.

2 Steel made by acid Bessemer process shall not be acceptable.

3 Test reports shall be supplied for all mandatory tests including

tensile & hardness test as per the material specifications. All test
reports must be correlated with heatmarks on plates.

4 All stainless steel plates shall be hot rolled, solution heat-treated &
quenched. The surface must be pickled & have no. 1 finish.

5 In inquiry weight is mentioned approximately. However we require

exact no of plates as mentioned alongwith each plate size. Final
weight will be mentioned as per no. of plates only. Vendor to
mention sizewise weight of plate to workout total weight. We require
plate sizes of 2000mm width x 6000mm long. Vendor to clearly
specify the plate size offered, if plate sizes are different.

6 Mill test certificates of ex-stock plates shall be submitted alongwith

quotation.

7 Pre-dispatch inspection will be carried out by GNFC inspector or by

third party inspector to verify all mill test certificates, heat marks
and plate dimensions

8 All stainless steel plates shall be IGC tested as per ASTM A262
Practice-A. This test shall be performed for each heat no., each
thickness & minimum one test for five plate of particular heat no. If
plate fails under Practice - A then same lot will be rejected. IGC
tests shall be at vendor's cost.

NB : -

Vendor shall categorically confirm all points and deviation if any shall
be clearly highlighted since otherwise offer will not be considered.
