Lenovo DE Storage Sizing Tool User Guide

1. Overview
This guide provides an overview for sizing and configuring the Lenovo DE Series storage solutions using the Lenovo DE Storage Sizing Tool. It
is intended for Lenovo technical pre-sales professionals.

The Lenovo DE Storage Sizing Tool is a Microsoft Excel Workbook. It is comprised of the following three sheets.

 Instruction ---------Provides a quick overview of using the Tool.

The version of the Guide is tracked by date. The date is in the file name and in the Guide.

Example Sizing using “Capacity Only” Sheet.
The below clip is from the DE Sizer.
 First select a system, drive, RAID or DDP and TB or TiB.
 Enter the number of drives or system capacity. This calculator provides two methods of capacity calculation; Method 1 – Enter the
number of drives and get capacity. Method 2 – Enter Capacity and get the number of drives.
 The results are shown.

Example Sizing using “Perf. & Capacity” Sheet.

The below clips are from the DE Sizer. To become familiar with the Sizer, you could duplicate the “Input Selections” and see the below results. The
best way to become familiar is to try different Input Selections and view the results. Every set of Input Selections yield valid results.

I. First make the “Basic Input Selections”.

II. Second, Decide if you want to do the” Optional – Detailed Input Data”.

If detailed system requirements are known, enter them in this section. If the requirements are not known, leave them in the default settings, which
are considered average system requirements.
Note: The notation adjacent to the Selections are the Sizers current selections. If Blue, they are the Default Selections. If Red, Optional Selections.
Use Default when Requirements Are Not Known.

III. Third, View the Configurations Table.

- It shows all available System Configurations and drives that meet your selections.
- Select the Configuration of your choice. Config. Number 31 has been selected.
- Click on “View Report” to view the detailed report for your selected Configuration.

IV. Fourth, View the “Detailed Report”
It is a three sheet report designed to have all the information a customer would need on the selected system.
The report can be printed by selecting “File/Print”. Or it can be copied and pasted into other documents.
