DAILY INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 9

December 15, 2017

I. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson the learners should be able to:

 prove Midline Theorem

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

A. Topic Quadrilaterals
B. Sub-topic Midline theorem
C. Materials Visual-aid, chalkboard, chalk eraser
D. Reference Grade 9 Learner’s Material page 322-324

III. PROCEDURE:

1. Preparatory Activities

A. Daily Routine
1. Greetings
2. Prayer
3. Checking of Attendance and Classroom

2. Lesson Proper

A. Activity
In ABCD and E are the midpoints of AC and BC, respectively.
Consider each given information and answer the questions that follow.
A B
1. If DE = 4, then AB = _______
2. If AB = 10, then DE = _______
3. If AD = 9, then AC = _______ D E
4. If BC = 12, then BE = _______
5. If DC = 7 and BE = 6 , then AC + BC = _______
C

Midpoint – In geometry, the midpoint is the middle point of a line

segment. It is equidistant from both endpoints, and it is the
centroid both of the segment and the endpoints. It bisects the
segment.

B. Analysis
1. Does the segment drawn look parallel to the third side of the
triangle?
2. Compare the lengths of the segments drawn and the third side. What
did you observed?
3. What two figures are formed if we cut the triangle along the segment
drawn?
4. What can you say about your findings?

C. Abstraction
The Midline Theorem. The segment that joins the midpoints of two sides
of a triangle is parallel to the third side and half as long.
