CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
SIWES was establishing by ITF in 1973 to solve the problem of lack of adequate
practical skills preparatory for employment in industries by graduates of tertiary
institutions.
The scheme exposes student industries based skills necessary for a month transition
from the class room to the world of work. It affords student of tertiary institutions the
opportunity of key familiarized and equipment which are usually not available in the
educational institutions

2.1 HOW TO USE KEYBOARD FOR SHORT CUT KEYS
i. Ctrl +N (open a new page)
ii. Ctrl +f1(minimize ribbon)
iii. Ctrl + enter (insert new page)
iv. Shift+home(highlight from end of a sentences to the beginning)
v. Shift+end (highlight from beginning of a sentences to the end)
vi. Shift + arrow key (highlight letter by letter)
vii. Shift+ctrl + arrow key(highlight word by word)

The title bar:- It displays the title of the current application and file
name
Office button:- The office button contains various function for
various file operation e.g save, open, print etc
Taps: The tabs contains various function that can be used to
accomplish various task
Reborn: It contains the properties of an active tab
Groups:- This contains the related set of icon that can be used to
accomplish specific task
Dialog box luncher :- This are used to activate the dialog box for a
specific group
The ruler guide(horizontal and vertical) it is used to set magins to the
horizontally and vertically
Scroll handle (horizontal & vertical) it is used for moving the page
up or down, left or right
Status bar:- It displays the status of the document, it also displays the
document statistic
Control button:- Minimize, maximize they are used to control button,
they are use to control the button
Click on Home tab/position your cursor where you want the bullet to
appear
In the paragraph group, click on bullet icon
Click on the bullet of your choice

Home (move the active cell to collum A)
Right click on the highlight cell and choose format cell from the short
cut menu
Click import
In the look list locate and double click to specify how you want to
divide the text collum,follow the instruction in the text wizard import
and then click finish

CHAPTER FOUR
5.1 SUMMARY
Effort has be made to highlight the areas covered by the various chapters.
Chapter One deals with Introduction to Siwes Aim and
Objectives.Limitaton of report, Chapter Two focus on How to Used
Mouse For Various Task Chapter three deals with microsoft word,file
management in microsoft word and some command keys e.t.c. four deals
with windows as an operatng system ,operating System,Function of
Operating System Version of windows , staring up computer , booting
procedure for cold booting .
5.2 RECOMMENDATION
The student should compare the teaching in class with that they learn on
training in order to knowwheher they have learned something new. The
siwes Co-Ordinator should take their time when they have the student o
I.T in order to know how to acces the student . the government should
increase the SIWES payment, so that student can cover some of their
experiences during the training . the govenment should increase the
duration of the programme in order for the student to learn more on
industries the government in order for the student to learn more on
industries the government should make SIWES compulsory for both the
polytechnics and colleges so that the student will not end in class only.
