ASSESSMENT 1

What is Globalization and how does it occur subjectively?

Globalization refers to the process of expansion and intensification of social relations and
consciousness across the world. It widely expands the interaction and integration of the people of
different nations. It is an increasing spread of relationships and organizations around the world. People
are aware of what is happening in the world. It describes the connection between the world's
economies, cultures, and populations, caused by the trade of goods and services, technology, and
flows of investment, people, and knowledge. It talks about the speed of movement of exchange
between groups of people, goods, and services in the world. It promotes and increases interactions
between different regions and populations around the globe
Everything affects, whether it is good or bad. Globalization affects the environment, culture,
political systems, economic development, and a human being in society. An example of this in the
environment is climate change, a change in the condition of the global climate patterns driven by human
emissions of greenhouse. In culture, people, especially teenagers, were mesmerized by Korean
dramas, Kpop Idols, and Korean foods. They tend to have an interest in Korean culture. The drive of
globalization is the economic situation; it aims to be beneficial around the world by making more
efficient competition. On the other hand, globalization can be harmful to the economy, decreases the
cost of manufacturing. It intensifies the shortages in all national economies and harms the people and
regions involved. Globalization is also inevitable and irreversible means we don't expect it and we
cannot stop it.

Why should we use the interdisciplinary approach in studying Globalization?

The interdisciplinary approach identifies the appropriate disciplines to solve a problem outside its
normal side and come up with a solution that supported the complex understanding of the situations. It
allows for a synthesis of ideas and the synthesis of characteristics from many disciplines. At the same
time, it addresses students' differences and helps to develop transferable skills. It guides the students to
develop their abilities and skills that are needed to carry out tasks. It will cultivate the persons'
awareness of past and present events around the world. It will enrich the understanding of the world by
deepening knowledge base and broadening perspective.
It is to simplify the understanding of an individual to the globalizing processes. Globalization can
convey an accurate interpretation of better apprehension. In connection with this, we can easily
understand the underlying condition of the social, economic, political, and cultural processes that shape
the structure of Globalization. We could have an eye that sees the whole and conclude an accurate
diagnosis of the current events and the world in general.

Why do we need to exercise in sociological imagination to make sense of the contemporary

world?
The sociological imagination is an awareness of the relationship between what a person has
experienced and society itself. The sociological imagination aid individuals to survive in the modern
world. It enables them to familiarize their personal, self-centered view of the world. By using the
sociological imagination, individuals are push to recognize an objective position, events, and social
structures that influence behavior, attitudes, and culture.

The sociological imagination clearly shows that the personality and characteristics of an individual were
shaped by the surroundings we are in, our family, friends, country, and the world as a whole. It inspires
people to think about their lives. Everyone makes an individual choice on what to do, to eat, on whom
they wanted to be with. It enables individuals to have their capacity to shift from one perspective to
another. In the contemporary world, people tend to accept changes in everything. Sociological
imagination requires us to think away from the accustomed routines we have and take us to a new
perspective.

Explain the difference between the State and the Nation.

A state is an area or region that has a population. It is being governed by the government
exercising control over their particular area. Its border was clearly stated and recognized by other
states. Basically, it is a community with a populated person that is permanently settled in a portion of
the area. They were being controlled by the government that values their freedom. The state consists of
four (4) elements; people, territory, government, and sovereignty. A state cannot be called a state if it
does not have people which lives within the state. The land they were being stepped on was the
territory, the portion is fixed. The persons the administer the function of politics are the government.
They are the ones who carry the will of the state. The power that the states hold to direct obedience to
its intention from the jurisdiction.
A nation is a group of people who are settled in one area that has similarities and is connected
to each other. They see themselves as compatible and related because of their history and culture.
Nations are socially established, the existence, definition, and members can change dramatically based
on circumstances. We can label it as a community that is bound together. A nation may refer to a stable
community of people who share a common language, culture, ethnicity, descent, or history.
