The whole event was a huge success from the

and cool to be part of such an amazing
executive board and chairing the session was
genuinely so much fun. Everyone had their
own opinions on the agenda and they
continued their hilarious rants like actual
members of parliament and it felt so real. Our
Rajya Sabha session probably had the most
heated questions ever and I saw so many
students constantly making an effort to
participate. Even though the bill did not get
passed in the joint session the debate and the
speeches were truly amazing and I can’t forget
the final speech given by the President

Central Vista Project Agenda
BY SUGUNA PRADHAN

The second agenda concerns the construction of the Central Vista Project, which
is regarding the renovation of the parliament building. It has been facing
structural safety issues and also has space constraints. This project aims to
revamp and renovate the central vista area in the heart of lutyens, Delhi, and it
has an estimated cost of 20,000 crore rupees. However, there has been a petition
filed by the Delhi high court requesting for a temporary haltage of the
construction due to the current pandemic. Uddhav Thackeray, Mamata Banerjee,
and other prominent politicians have urged the government to divert the
construction funds for covid relief. This project has also been opposed as it
requires the demolition of many historically important buildings. The ruling
party thinks that the safety issues concerning the parliament building prove that
the construction must take place, while the opposition believes that this project
is a ‘vanity project’ and the money can instead be diverted to combat the third
wave of coronavirus. The current agenda is being discussed to decide this
matter.

❖ Anti-Rekha Holiday Homes: 5 Flats Available
Rating: 3 / 5 Tenants: V. Muraleedharan, Ambica Soni
Accepted Practices-
•Speaking out against Smt. Rekha, no matter what the situation.
• Taking note of Smt. Rekha’s Rajya Sabha Attendance.
•Asking Smt. Rekha irrelevant questions. (In millennial lingo, the tenants
wish to cancel Rekha).
❖ Heritage vs. Future Towers: 2 Flats are available in Wing I and Wing II
Rating: 1.5 / 5
Wing I
Tenants: Kailash Soni, J.P. Nadda
Accepted Practices-
•Belief in Central Vista being the future of India.
•Using Archaeological Proof from hundreds of years ago, to justify the
building of Ram Mandir in 2021.
•A belief that Masjids can be made anywhere but “Mandir yahi banega”.
•Non Acceptance of anything besides their beliefs (do not argue with them
unless you want to be called Anti-national and Hinduphobic).

Wing II
Tenants: Pratap Singh Bajwa, Sharad Pawar Accepted Practices- •A belief
that “history is history” and land should be shared between Hindus and
Muslims.
•Want masjid and mandir to be built side by side (will probably implement
this in society too).
•Central Vista is detrimental to India’s Infrastructure (don’t ask for a reason,
we
didn’t either).
•Daily sending of petitions to postpone the building of Vista (Guys, we’re still
in a pandemic!!).
•Believe that B.J.P. is ignorant and members are “andhavishwasis”.

NOTE: Joint Diwali Parties for both wings

Rating: 2.5 / 5
Tenants: T.G. Venkatesh, Hardeep Singh Puri, J.P. Nadda (Tenants are
temporary, will leave once Vista is complete.)
MARCH 2021, VOLUME 3 PAGE 1
Features-
•Larger houses (apparently Vista houses are tiny and Parliament
members need a minimum of 1000 sq feet houses).
•Morning walks to chat about P.M. Modi’s “extremely efficient” handling
of Covid-19.
•The building will be connected by metro (parliament members hate
Delhi traffic).

❖ ‘but INC’ Clubhouse

LAST FLAT!!!!
Rating: 4 / 5
Tenants: S. Jaishankar, Nirmala Sitharaman, Hardeep Singh Puri
Common Practices-
•Bring up Congress making a hostel, whenever they feel attacked.
•REPEATEDLY mention that 35,000 crores have been allocated for
healthcare.
•Turn questions for opposition into long propaganda speeches.
•Calling the Opposition criminals and “padhe likhe murkhon”.

Harry Styles’ 2 nd Studio Album
BY KAIWAAN DALAL
When Harry Styles juxtaposed, ’’We’ll be a fine line”, IYP took the advice to heart,
structuring itself on the fine line between opposite parallels.

If you didn’t understand, let me shed some light on this “Canyon moon”.

P.S. Having the track-list of Fine Line ready will truly help ‘light up’ some odd
vocabulary choices. (No, it’s not just because I’m bad at grammar)

•Mall of the Emirates vs. Mahim fish market

Wearing the finest ethnic wear, and with the mindset to make everyone ‘adore
you’, showing up in a fashion similar to trial rooms in Mall of the Emirates, is
common at IYP.
However, this ‘oh, so golden’ portrayal is only skin deep. Debate starts, and the
argument is no less fiery and violent than that between your mother and the fish-
seller, ‘falling’ apart on that 1 Rupee difference

•The Hit-and-Miss vs. The Sneak-attack

We all know this person. You know, the one who knows enough to be a member of
the actual parliament, yet falters as soon as they speak. Well, don’t worry, you
won’t tip off this fine line because there are some who don’t even know who they
are representing, yet become Shashi Tharoor 2.0 when it comes to speaking.
Harry might ask you to ‘treat people with kindness’ but do these delegates care?
No. They either spit facts and make you seem dumb, or sit idle, blushing like a
‘cherry’. Don’t take either lightly, though. After all, despite being the underdog,
Watermelon Sugar came out high with awards.
Now that you get what I mean, enjoy the delicate tightrope that IYP offers and
remember not to fall off this fine line.

You see, I am not a morning person. I need sleep. People need sleep. Could these organisers
not keep it in the afternoon or evening? As if this was not enough of a headache, they
made us wear Indian formals! I did not understand anything that was going on, so I kept
my camera off and went back to sleep.
Yours beloved, Rachel Green a.k.a. Queen Rachel

Dear diary,
People were screaming so loudly it made my ears hurt. I am so frustrated at not being
awarded the Best Delegate award. I had prepared so well for this event!
Yours beloved, Ross Geller a.k.a. The Dinosaur Guy

Dear diary,
I was so excited to attend I.Y.P. today. I do not see what all the hype is about. People were
yelling at each other, constantly finding faults in the opponent's speeches. It seemed as if I
was in Satan’s Hell.
Yours beloved, Phoebe Buffay a.k.a. Regina Phalange

Dear diary,
I joined I.Y.P. an hour late. I had no idea what was going on so I ate chips and sandwiches.
In the joint session, there was a discussion about the bill. I could not see any Bill present at
the meet. Anyways, I had Pizza for lunch.
Yours beloved, Joey Tribbiani a.k.a. Baby Kangaroo

If IYP Was Marvel
BY SUSAN WILLIAMS
BY ISHITA SOMWANSHI

1. Spiderman: Far From Home- For the first timer praying to leave “this IYP natak” in
one piece, home really does seem far, far away. If you watch the action unfold with
wide eyes and an incredulous face, exactly the way Peter Parker looks at Tony Stark,
don’t worry, we’ve all been there, you’ll survive this realm of razor sharp tongues.

2. Thor: The Dark World- When you’re put on the spot and a question you have no
witty counter remark to is hurled at you, it certainly does feel like the dark world has
descended upon you. But chin up delegate, once you make it past the bridge of
stutters and silences, Asgard awaits.

3. Deadpool- Deadpool is that one sassy, snarky delegate who has a ready answer for
anything and everything you could throw at them. Extraordinarily glib and brimming
with sarcasm, this person will succeed not only at making you jealous of their silver
tongue but also at lightening the mood of what can sometimes be a monotonous
committee.

4. Black Widow- That one black hearted mole in every crisis, this person possesses the
stealth and cunning of Natasha Romanoff, wrapping the committee around their little
finger until no one really knows what's going on anymore. Beware of this one, folks.

5. Guardians of the galaxy- This is that friend group that commands attention as they
sashay down the walkway of their spaceship. These are the delegates who bond over
bloodthirsty arguments and the strong urge to take down everyone in their path. A
formidable band of opponents, they will keep you on the tip of your toes.

6. Endgame- Endgame is the only word that can be used to describe that heady rush
of victory that surges through your body when you put someone in their place with a
string of intelligent comebacks, when Best Delegate is tantalisingly within reach and
when after a long day of verbal sparring, committee is successful.
The Roll Of Dice
BY YASHODHARA RAY
The Indian Youth Parliament is a student-led initiative depicting the
proceedings of the two houses of the Indian Parliament. Thrilling
arguments, heated debates and overwhelming trending topics for
discussion gives an appropriate overview of the IYP. We’re getting
ready to witness two topics that will keep every Member of Parliament
on the edge of their seats in this edition: the construction of the Ram
Mandir and the Central Vista Project. The most awaited power
struggle is between the two houses in accordance with the
introduction of bills. The members of parliament will be playing the
game of snakes and ladders in matters relating to the Central Vista
Project as the agenda:
1st Dice roll- Start from square one by introducing the bill in the Lok
Sabha.
2nd Dice roll- Get 50 signatures from the house and climb a ladder
moving ahead to pass the bill to the Rajya Sabha.
3rd Dice roll- Bill is not supported by enough members of the Rajya
Sabha and the snake takes the bill back to Lok Sabha.
4th Dice roll- Lok Sabha introduces the money bill for the project and
due to brute power of the Lok Sabha in matters of monetary bills, the
bill takes the longest ladder and reaches the final square.
The bill moves up ladders and slides back
down after landing on snakes, as a
consequence of actions and arguments
of the members of parliament. Parties
are preparing their strictly timed
speeches and waiting for an opportunity
to question this act of the government.
Every session of the Parliament is a
humanised form of snakes and ladders,
the controversial topic of the
construction of the Ram Mandir also
goes up the ladders to the Rajya Sabha
and slides down the snake on rejection
of a proposal back to the Lok Sabha. The
IYP also follows the democracy of the
people, by the people and for the people
which is clearly seen by the elected
executive board. Organising Committee
members slogging and creating minute
by minute schedules to show the
teachers and participants an event with
absolute perfection. ILLUSTRATOR: ZARAH MARTIIN
A Divine I(YP)ntervention
BY LAVANYA GUPTA
Tarot cards are used to reveal insight into a person’s past, present and
future. Here is a spin on some major arcana cards in the context of the IYP.
Let us enter the oracle’s tent.
Come forth child, come closer. Are you scared of the upcoming IYP or are
you certain of your victory? What would be your strength - some dark
secrets or thorough research? Draw a card and I, the oracle, will unveil the
fate that awaits you at the battleground of the parliament. Concentrate and
choose wisely. Oh, interesting, so you picked...

The fool: The first-timer, the innocent,

entering the IYP with a smile on your
face. Beware as friends turn to foes and
double-crossers are double-crossed.
Surrounded by chaos, remember to
believe in yourself.

The chariot: The parliament dissolves

into disarray, yet you progress, driven by
sheer dint of perseverance. You shine as
the voice of reason, you lead as the
beacon of hope. You possess the power
to win, never once doubt that.

The magician: Aah, the seasoned

veteran, bewitching your fellow
participants with your dazzling words.
Continue to cast your spell and ace the
IYP. Be forewarned, for every spell you
pay a price. How much are you willing
to sacrifice? ILLUSTRATOR: ARYAA MISHRA
The devil: Your hunger for power traps you. Rein in your greed, for in your quest to
earn a certificate of merit you fail to register what actually matters. Be reminded of
the mighty who were ruined while attempting to attain supremacy.

The high priestess: Your majesty, sitting silently through the parliamentary
proceedings, your cards clasped against your chest. You see through everyone's
charade, trusting only your sixth sense. While remaining quiet through the havoc,
remember to click on unmute and share your divine knowledge at the opportune
time.

The cards have spoken, listen to their tale. They are a window into your very
being, speaking the truth that cannot be hidden. Yet their prophecy can be
rewritten with your might, wit and courage.
So child, venture out into this battle with confidence and determination and
forge your destiny.
Closing Ceremony
BY NISHTHA SRIDHARAN
After a fruitful day, full of passion-filled speeches, action-
packed controversies; the IYP came to an end with the closing
ceremony. Everyone donned colourful Indian clothes and
serious expressions, their enthusiasm burnt as brightly as it did
when they argued on their agendas even after a long day! This
can only prove to us how much of a success this event was.

We were able to witness the hard work put into the team
behind the magic that seemed so effortless to us. Not that
anyone was really paying attention to that, everyone was
poised in anticipation for the awards. The members of the Lok
Sabha were called out for being participative, fiery, and on
point. The Rajya Sabha members were lauded for being first-
timers and still being confident enough to step up. Once, the
merit winners were called out and a round of virtual applauses
were ‘seen’, Ma’am declared the third edition of the Scottish
IYP close.

(p.s remember dear members of parliament and press

members- success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the
courage to continue that counts.)
