Tawhid Assignment

Muslims believe in the oneness of God, called Tawhid, which has three aspects: 1) Oneness in lordship - Allah is the only God and ruler over all things. Associating any other being as equal to or above Allah is a grave sin. 2) Oneness in worship - Allah alone is worthy of worship, praise, obedience, and seeking help from. 3) Oneness in names and attributes - Allah has unique attributes that cannot be compared to or shared with any other being. Believing otherwise would be shirk (associating partners with Allah) and unforgivable.

Muslims believe that God alone is the Lord, that He alone should be

worshipped and that His names and attributes are unique to Him. Outline
the Muslim belief in Oneness of God. [10 marks]

The very first and most important article of faith is disbelief in the oneness
of god. Belief that Allah is the only god and He is alone is the very base of
Islam. It is the first thing a person must believe in to be a muslim. This is
called Tawhid. ‘’There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the
Messenger of Allah’’. This is the first kalma, and if someone can not
recite this with full conviction they are not a muslim.

Iman-e-Mufassal is a dua which contains all the basic pillars and things
that a person must believe in to be a good muslim. The things mentioned in
this Dua are belief in Allah, His angels, His books, The day of judgement,
predestination, all good and bad is from Allah, and resurrection after death.
Iman-e-Mufassal is believing in all the things that we can not see. It shows
that a muslim’s heart is strong enough to believe in these things even
though they cant see them.

Tawhid, belief in oneness of Allah, has 3 aspects. The first of them is belief
in oneness in the lordship of Allah. Muslims believe that Allah is the One
and Only. They believe that He is alone, and he has no family, partner,
friend. Also that He is the only god. Believing in any other gods, or thinking
somebody else is as powerful, and knowing as Him is going against this,
and is major sin that puts ou out of the folds of islam. “Surely Allah does
not forgive that anything should be associated with Him, and forgives
what is besides that to whomsoever He pleases…” (4:48) In this
Quranic verse, it can be seen that associating anyone or anything with
Allah is a terrible, unforgivable sin.“Say: What! shall I seek a Lord other
than Allah? And He is the Lord of all things…” (6:164) this verse says
that He is the only lord, and no one else is even a little bit close to Him in
authority, and he resides over everything, and makes every decision.

The second aspect of Tawhid is oneness in worship of Allah. This means

that Allah is the only one worthy of worship, and the only one worth bowing
to, since he is the only god. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.” Holy
Quran, Chapter 40, Verse 65. This quranic verse proves that Allah is the
only one who we should bestow praise upon, and the only one to worship.
Allah is the only one we should turn to for guidance, and help. If we want or
need anything, the only person to ask for it is Allah, nobody else.

And the third and final aspect of Tawhid is oneness in Names and
Attributes. Muslims must know and believe that Allah is unique in His
Attributes, and that his qualities belong only to him. No one can say that
they are better than Allah, or have some quality or Attribute in greater
amounts than Him. Another thing is that Allah is the only one who knows
what happened in the past, what is happening now, and what will happen in
the Future, and no one can predict it, or know what will happen or what has
happened, no fortune tellers or palm readers. Also, Allah has given us his
99 names, and nobody can either subtract or add any to these. (i cannot find
any hadith or quranic verses for this)

If a muslim doesnt follow the 3 aspects of Tawhid, or do things that anger

Allah, it is called Shirk. Shirk is to associate partners with Allah, and
worshipping some other god, or believing there are gods other than Allah,
or denying the existence of God completely. If a person commits Shirk, it
will not be forgiven.

In conclusion, Tawhid is to believe that Allah is the only god, and it has 3
aspects; Oneness in Lordship, Oneness in names and attributes, and
oneness in Worship. If a person doesn't believe in Tawhid, that is Shirk, a
terrible, unforgivable sin.
